FWIW Amendola scored a TD later in the game and went up to the guy and gave him the ball and apologized ... but it turns out the guy with broken glasses was no longer on the sideline and Danny apologized to the the wrong guy.

How did ESPN find two people to argue that it was ok for the Cowboys to have that dude who drunk drive and killed his teammate on the sideline with the team a week later. Wow.

Fwiw, the parent(s) of the deceased asked the cowboys to not turn their back on Josh Brent. But there's a difference between keeping an eye on him and having him on the sideline, which seemed really weird.

esp after hearing the eye witness account.

Quote:
then I started to hear screams coming from inside the vehicle and it was a man's voice saying 'Help me', you know, 'Help, somebody help me'. And I turned and looked at the [Brent], and I said 'Is there a passenger? Is there somebody in the car?'. And he said 'Yeah'. And I told him 'Well, get him out of the car'.
"Josh looked at me and he said 'He won't get out of the car'. And I said 'Well, you can't just leave him in there and let him die. You've got to help him. Go get him'. And I commanded him several times and Josh looked at me, and he again said 'He won't get out of the car'. And I told him 'You can't stand here and watch him die. You've got to get him out'."

Brent eventually pulled Brown from the car.
"I want people to understand that Josh Brent is not a hero," McWilliams said. "I keep hearing reports of how he was there to pull his friend from the fire, but he had to be coerced and pushed and begged and pleaded to get his friend out of the fire. And when he pulled him out, he just left him in the street. He didn't tell him 'Hang in there, help is on the way'. Nothing. He just left him there and I want the magnitude of that to be understood."

Well if I was one of his teammates and he asked if I needed a lift after the game I would have been like that's ok br0 I'm good!

I thought it was perfectly ok for Brent to be on the sideline. If a friend of mine killed me in a DUI manslaughter I would want our mutual friends to support them in any way possible and I would hope they don't have their life ruined or lose their job due to the incident.

Eyewitness account is def creepy, but doesn't show that Brent was callous or heartless. Just that he was drunk and dazed from the accident and didn't know wht the **** was going on. One would hope, at least.

yeah shock is a real thing. i don't think a person can be judged on that basis alone.

i thought it was odd he was on the sidelines, but only insofar as it's bad PR for the NFL/Cowboys organization.

Is it wrong that I have a very different level of anger for a drunk guy killing his passenger who probably knew he was drunk over a drunk who killed a random other driver?

no, especially when they're friends and have likely both driven each other in a situation like this in the past.
