I have never, ever gotten a weather warning on my phone but I just got a "blizzard warning" on my droid. I almost want to head down to the store to see the POR soccer moms freaking out and buying out everything.

Politards is about as good of a politics forum as SE is for sports. Pretty damn good for the Internet. Of course the subject matter is going to attract idiots and be horrible for many people and on pure readability SE is a much better forum.

Even the insufferable AC stuff is better than most stuff you'll find on other forums.

nath,

One thing on that Sponwall quote. Dude is just kinda sloppy with specifics like that. For a writer he can be weirdly imprecise. You might be reading more intent into that than is there.

Probably not surprising that a middle aged white male thinks that a politics forum full of his own demographic is above average. Not sure sports is a topic that would suffer in the same way.

I did this too. I'll start typing up at least ~100-150 words of commentary between each episode whenever I marathon a show. Notes generally help with retention and make reading/TV-watching/etc. feel more purposeful.

I really have no problem with marathoning because I will normally watch an entire series more than once. Maybe I just like the general show the first time around then really pay attention to the details the second time around.

For instance the Sopranos had many places of foreshadowing through the entirety of the show that were just setting up the final scene in the last episode of the series. I don't think anyone picks up these pieces on first watch and when the final show comes around says "oh yeah i that makes sense from SE3EP7" whether you marathon or not.

But I'll try to give the first episode of Deadwood a shot tonight if the game doesn't go too late and leave it at that.

This is absolutely true. And there are 2-3 regular posters who are better than anything else on the entire internet (for politics).

There are also significantly more instances of people going full ****** emotional breakdown in SE than in Politiards.
it's too bad something like 2/3rds of politics regs are currently temp banned because i'd love to hear more about the incredible emotional control displayed by politics posters

Finally rewatching Deadwood thanks to this thread. Its a top 3 show of all time for me but more importantly Al Swearengen is the greatest character of all time and I'm not sure it is close
