Frank is a tool but he's great TV. Don't know how you could pull for that waste of space Derek and ass-ugly Jonna over him, especially since Ashley was facing elimination with Frank. We need her and her tits all the way to the finish line.

Re: SE FAQ, Liveblog and Gun Discussion

i thought this would suck because of the lack of big names, but in hindsight this was a good chance to give a tryout to a ton of rookies and then keep the best ones to replace some of the lamer cast members and join with the established vets . duel 3 has to be next and could be a straight all-star cast

Re: SE FAQ, Liveblog and Gun Discussion

yeah frank is absolutely must see tv because he's such an idiot. i'm sure frank zach and zito will be sticking around for future challenges. hopefully nany and ashley as well.

i wish we could have seen more interaction between wes and san diego tho.

My favorite holidays are Thansgiving and 4th of July. I think Halloween is overrated. What do you guys think?

Maybe next time there will actually be a contestant in decent cardio shape because it's pretty clear none of these famewhores has so much as gone for a jog in quite some time. Skinny != fit.

Man this thread blew up.

My wife's grandma would probably be dead right now if not for her gun (or the threat of her gun). A couple years ago when she was 80 some guy broke into her house while she was home. He got into the back door which was her laundry room. The door between the laundry room and kitchen was a cheap wood panel door that was closed but not locked. She had seen this guy peeping the neighbors' house so she was kind of ready. Anyway she heard him on the other side of the door and called out "you come through this 2nd door imma shoot ya" and he left.

She does have a gun but isn't mobile enough to get it in time and her hands are so gnarly that she couldn't shoot it at all. She's an East Texas woman though so she's kind of a badass.

If he came into her house he could have just pushed her over and her neck and/or hip probably would have broken (again) and she may have been left to die while he robbed her. She lives alone pretty far away from the rest of the family.
im not sure that you actually understand what the word 'probably' means. mite wanna look that one up.

also, seems the gun was not necessary in this particular instance.

Given what I read about what happened today, pretty much all of his points about Belcher and the current gun control climate can also be applied to this situation. I'm by no means the most left-wing dude in the world, but I think a lot of what he/Whitlock said are very good points, and I find it scary that something only furthering their points happened so shortly after they were made.
My issue with Whitlock's article was the faulty premise surrounding his main argument - not just insinuating, but stating with conviction that without guns, Belcher and his gf would still be alive. I think given the type of thought process that's required to decide you're gonna murder the mother of your 2-month old daughter and then kill yourself, that's a mighty large assumption.

My issue with Costas' lecture on national television was exactly how I described it in this very thread on the night it happened. It was cold, it was smug and it was completely insensitive to the fact that there were families affected by this tragedy. Not even a "my condolences to the victims" was spoken. It was an awful piece by an awful excuse for a sports broadcaster.

Maybe there isn't a comfortable way to address this topic. Maybe there isn't a proper time or place. Maybe it's supposed to be awkward until the problem gets solved. But personally, I think we're far too quick to jump to conclusions and we see these events as opportunities to bandstand instead of moments that require grieving. Being this desensitized really upsets me.

The last thing I wanted to do today was run to Facebook or Twitter and start quoting gun violence stats and anti-gun rhetoric or construct an argument for why legal concealed carry might've prevented this tragedy...because it really doesn't matter what I think. I was stunned when I saw the news. I was bawling when I saw Obama's address. I'm probably as detached as I can possibly be from this interest and I've felt sick to my stomach all day. I just think, in general, people can show a bit more decorum with respect to a senseless tragedy.

fwiw, I thought we did a pretty good job in this thread today; the discussion was quite mature and non-vitriolic. Much better than the Politics thread.

EDIT: I'm sorry, not trying to rehash a topic that we're moving away from. I'll stfu about it now.

holliday pretty much kept badgering people because he couldn't fathom someone being able to hack a facebook/twitter account in like 20 minutes.

then there was some report that came out saying the teachers were heroes and great teachers or something and cdl says they may be heroes but who knows if they're good teachers lol.
