Really? You don't see anything wrong with interviewing a 5, 6, 7 year old on what they just witnessed? These kids are going to have nightmares for months.

As far as the kids being interviewed, I find it nauseating. Don't really fault the media for seeking their accounts(not to say I approve of it, but media scum gonna media scum). The parents allowing it tho...I mean WTF why would they allow their child to be subjected to that? Sigh

my feeling is that kids should be talking about it immediately, but the parents should be the ones having the conversations and it should be a 2 way discourse about right and wrong. If they want to interview the kids in a few days then have at it if parents approve.

I think I saw 2 kids being interviewed and it seemed like they were ancillary to the main area (wasn't paying close attention though). Both kids seemed cognizant and well-spoken and did not appear in shock.

I mean I would assume the reporters steered clear of kids who were inconsolable and also got parents' permission to interview any kids.

Sheesh you are fast. I wasn't sure how to spell it so I replaced it with another word I probably mis-spelled.

What is the point of interviewing them? The only answers they're getting is "I was scared" and "I was happy to see my parents." Far more bad is being done than good

Didn't get Life Acquatic at all, even though I loved Rushmore and to a slightly lesser degree Royal Tennenbaums. It's like they went one level too far / too dry for my liking. People whose movie tastes I respect seem to like it though so maybe it's me.

Interviewing them is bad but having them recall every single detail later is the best way for them to "get over it", so to speak.

Yeah. It's also manipulative on the part of the journalists because adults can decline to give interviews or articulate their answers at least, whereas kids (especially after an event like this) don't really know any better.

phb, this is exactly why it is bad. Kids won't say no because they don't really understand that they can't. It's completely manipulative.

I also don't understand why these parents are allowing their kids to be interviewed. It's just ridiculous

Yeah, I felt weird watching a little kid describe what was going on during a massacre as if he was just explaining any other activity in his life.

What's manipulative about asking a kid to explain what they saw/heard?

Were the interviewers someone manipulating the kids into saying something untrue? I don't recall seeing that at all.
