If we did an "Athlete of the Year", it should have less to do with athletic performance and more to do with how frequently we discuss said athlete / use him* in a meme. More like Deadspin's Sports Human of the Year than any sort of media athlete award.

CUTLAH might be a good choice on those grounds.

If this were "Sporting Figure of the Year" or something like that, not just "Athlete"

Other than that, i can't really think of a female who would come close unless some tennis/golf hottie released a sex tape.
