The one time I flew through detroit I was absolutely floored at how nice the airport was. Before I got there, I expected baggage claim to be a couple of hobos huddled around a trash fire.

I would never trust a New Yorker's opinion on pizza.

St. Louis has good drivers afaict. The city is very hilly and so the roads and highways all curve and are wavy so you have to pay attention and can't really speed too often. And every single person who lives in the city is like a 7th generation St. Louisan so they know the roads like the back of their hands. They also have a clue about driving in the snow relatively safely.

Houston is horrendously awful in comparison. Roads here are flat as a pancake and straight so you see trucks doing 95 on the highway with regularity. Everyone drives a truck or a vehicle with tinted windows (hot summer) so your visibility is AIDS. Streets are loaded with foreigners who all go 30 under the limit and drive cars that look like they will crumble if they hit a pothole. Everyone drives in the left lane instead of using it as a passing lane - infuriating. These 2 cities are the only 2 I can speak authoritatively on but St. Louis is way, way ahead of Houston wrt drivers. Also if it starts drizzling (it rains here a lot) everyone slows down to 10mph. If it flurries? Hell, stay home - you aren't going to get anywhere. And it floods here a lot and every time you see on the news dozens of idiots who tried to drive through a 4 foot deep puddle and got stranded. Cars, trucks, whatever...

Houston's only saving grace is its large population of Asian drivers. They are really good.

DTW is nice but it's also the only place I've ever seen a restaurant that sells nothing but PBJs.

The new terminal at DTW is really nice. Not sure what's worse though, Romulus (city DTW is in) or Detroit tho

Seems like you've never been to Detroit

Of the states I've driven through, Florida and Washington stick out for terrible drivers.

Florida has the obvious problems associated with old people, tourists and old tourists. You also have aggressive rednecks. For reasons I can't explain, even the non-geriatrics turn their blinker on super early so it's not signaling anything.

I've posted about it several times, but Washington drivers are the WOAT when it comes to driving in the left lane. It is truly something to behold. It would be one thing if they kept this nonsense North of the Columbia but they clog up our freeways as well. You probably have to go 150 miles South of the state line before a random car going the speed limit in the left lane is more likely to be from Oregon than Washington. Oregon and Washington are pretty much the same culturally, politically etc. but somehow the drivers are a lot different.

Houston is still better than where I come from, though. Not like Louisiana roads are that crowded, but nobody actually pays attention what they're doing because they're all busy thinking about Jesus or brain-damaged from years of breathing and drinking oil refinery runoff or what have you.

If you shoot at 20+ people and don't kill any of them, you really shouldn't be called a sniper imo. Anyone can shoot and miss

It is a known fact that all bad drivers in WA are from California.

My opinion on Oregon drives are impossible to separate from the annoyance I feel that your speed limits are too damn slow and that somehow driving south on I5 through Portland involves a stupid and not well marked merge. IT'S THE BIGGEST DAMN ROAD ON THE WEST COAST I SHOULD JUST BE ABLE TO GO STRAIGHT.

Nothing brings out my latent misogyny, ageism and xenophobia like driving.

I actually think male business-men are worse than women as drivers. No one is more oblivious than Joe Douche-bag yelling into his onboard Bluetooth about some, like, integration clause or some bull**** while he's going 55 in a 35 and swerving around red light lines.

EDIT: Because he's had a long day, man, and he really needs to get to the GYM BRO.

women's driving skills are very highly correlated with their careers. those who work in fields that require a lot of drive drive well compared to those who don't. this works well when holding race and age constant though those obviously play a role. It does, however, break down at extreme levels of intelligence on the high end.

Catching up on the thread.... That whole SE soft defense of eugenics was pretty nice to see.....

Anyway my driving experience primarily consists of New England (and NY and the northeast in general) and cali. RI drivers are the worst of New England. Not really close.

NY seems fine.

Californians park their slow asses in the high speed lane and need a traffic light for even the most basic of turns. They suck so ****ing bad.
