I pretty much never drop or damage my phone. I'm continually amazed when I see people with much better phones than myself that are like cracked or jacked the **** up in various ways. My brother has dropped his phone in the toilet multiple times. I don't get it. How hard is it to never drop, step on, or drive a battering ram into your phone?

I just have a very thin rubber case on my GS3, just seems like a no brainer since it reduces the odds of breaking it by a ton, but yeah I guess if you hate it that much then oh well.

It's a 4 year long shell game vs the fact that I'm very clumsy, but so far being very careful has worked and I've never dropped a phone.
You are living on the edge. I open the screen protector package before I open the phone box. I have yet to drop a phone but it's like reassurance. I have friends who have cracked their phone screens in the first week, multiple times.

The only times I regularly dropped it are when it's sitting in my lap and I get out of a car, but after chipping or scratching a nice phone twice doing that I stopped being an idiot and put it somewhere else.

Made that exact move a couple of months ago and whereas like you I didn't really have much protection on the 3, it seems to feel more necessary with this one.

Some people go ghost armor front & back to avoid bulk, but I went front only and then got a Speck case for the rest. Bulky yeah, but it definitely protects the phone.

I am caseless, and I drop my Galaxy S3 on occasion. I even cracked the glass one time. Free replacement, but I'm weird and don't want a case on there.

Most people switch out there phones like every two years now anyway with all the subsidies they give to extend your contract.

Put that protective crap on first smartphone I got, but knowing I am not going to have phone super long-term would rather just risk the damage. They pretty much negate what you are paying for as far as phone design, imo.

I'll also buy the overpriced insurance for the first few months when phone would be super expensive to replace then cancel it till I get a new phone.

If you're the sort who always upgrades, keeping the phone in good shape for resale value probably makes it more important.

I have an incipio case on my galaxy nexus. Used to have an otterbox but that was a pos... Happy with the new one. Doesn't add much bulk, protects the screen when dropped for the most part.

However I did fall off a 6ft porch a couple weeks ago and landed in a bed of rocks and put two small scratches on the phone, lolz

link to these cases?

I do hate the bulk and I also hate that some cases make it tougher to slide the phone in and out of a jeans pocket (I take it out first thing at work and sit it on my desk all day so that issue doesn't matter much with dress pants). Work paid for the phone, but insuring it through the company account would be a hassle so a case seems like a must given that I am expected to give them an iphone 5 back if I upgrade in 2 years or leave the company before then.

I'd prefer a sleekish case to avoid the "stuck in jeans" feeling, but I have also considered the ones with card holders for times where I might ditch the wallet. Weight is of meaningful importance also.

I only had facebook and scorecenter on my old phone. Probably will get some more apps on this one. Suggestions?

Haven't tried to do that yet for variety of reasons, but fair point. Pretty crazy what you will see oldish phones going for on eBay.

Pandora or some kind of music streaming, WatchESPN, Netflix if you already pay for that, ESPN/Yahoo fantasy football app if you use those sites.

Also would look into if your bank has mobile check deposit where you can take a picture of a check to deposit it.

I downgraded phones because I break **** like a mother****er. If I didn't have a protector when I had an iPhone I would have had to replace it every 3 months.

Have an iPhone 4S and its the first decent phone I've ever owned so i have a thin rubber/plastic case and a screen protector. But I've never broken any phone ever; I owned an original RAZR for like 4 years and my 2nd phone for another 4 years

HBO Go if you have HBO. With the iphone 5 I can stream shows just fine at 4G / LTE speeds. Adding CC has really helped too.

And of course the Drudge Report app. Gotta keep up on the latest tax hikes as well as slayings in Chicagoland.
