I mean, Whitlock's conclusion is simply flawed. A direct quote from the article: "...if [Belcher] didn’t possess/own a gun, he and Kasandra Perkins would both be alive today."

I wonder if Costas considered consulting Tony Dungy before airing this piece. Poor guy looked like he was about to burst into tears when he was talking about it with Harrison and Patrick; I can only imagine what he must've been feeling during that segment.

Maybe there simply isn't a thing as "right time & right place" when discussing senseless tragedies but wow, did that ever feel inappropriate and uncomfortable. That was just cold and smug.

Someone once asked Costas if he would ever be the commissioner of baseball and he said no because the sport was too sacred to him and he couldn't live with himself if he somehow messed it up.

Meh. Still a little smug, but didn't have the heartlessness. I even agreed with the "not hurting your own team" part.

Tonight's was much worse.

Sounds like something Bob Costas would ask Bob Costas.

I mean, even if you disagree with his opinion (re: touchdown celebrations), at least that was an appropriate topic for halftime of a football game.

Honestly, I'm still stunned.

I've lived in Texas for 17 years and have never even shot a gun but Costas' rant made me go buy 30 guns at the drive-thru gun/kolache shop down the street.

Nah the story is salacious enough to stand on its own. It's still the head line.

Costas has brass stones for doing that and I agree with the message, but citing Jason Whitlock eliminates any credibility. You're Bob Costas dude, you don't need to lean on a hack to make a legitimate point.

Would making handguns harder to obtain result in less innocent people being killed? Yes, and I applaud Costas for stating that fact.

Does that mean that handguns should be banned? I have no idea.

If the words "I agree with Jason Whitlock" ever come out of your mouth, it's probably time to stop talking.
