Man, did I have a terribad avatar back then.

And it's amazing how many folks offered to be a mod. Myself included.

based on the ban history basically no one on this forum would be able to post consistently if the mods used earlier rules of decorum as precedence

That April '06 to ~ September '07 period was a fun time in SE where it seemed every poster in the forum knew who every other poster was. It was during that time period that it was voted most popular and best ran forum on 2+2 in an incredibly unscientific poll. The SE of today has shifted to be way more of a just general off-topic forum with the discussion in general being based around sports. It has been as the more of the OOT/BBV4L mentality has slowly seeped into the forum that the moderation has slowly evolved over time.

Once you hit this level of traffic, there really is no winning anymore as a mod. You will either have one group think you are too lenient and complain about trolls gone wild, or you'll have another group think you are too harsh and complain about mod abuse. The thread where Clark was added as a mod shows a lot of this mentality starting. I think a lot of this dates back to when iron-fisted law was introduced in OOT. Before that regime came in the few mods on 2+2 were all in general low-visibility laid back and never really the topic of discussion. It was when personalities like [censored], diebitter, and NT! were made mods that the mods became this huge part of the discussion of the forum and way higher visibility.

I wish we could go back to the old ways, but those ways were fit to a smaller and in general more respectful community.

It's not like the forum is filled with useless threads and most of the useless ones fall down to the abyss due to noone posting in them.

Other than those minor changes keep it the way it is,because if it changed I would get banned for trolling so fast. BTW, I think the single game threads for the WS worked out great rather than using that one thread.
I probably need to implement the NCAAF thread idea huh?

Custom titles were a lot easier to give with the old software right?

yeah any mod could hand them out

now you have to get an admin to do it

but the best part was that mods couldn't change their own title (with good reason, as evidenced by just about every mod who has given himself a title since the software change)

I don't really understand how I piss people off, and no one will give me any ideas in the bad se posters thread. A little nudge in the right direction would be nice.

I'm sure this is sarcastic, but I think I'm over 40 ppd since I found se, and I think my volume is probably part of the problem.

Sorry if this looks like attention whoring or whatever, but it's pretty apparent you guys don't like me, and the quality of the discussion here >>> any other forum, so I'd like to try to stick around, but won't if I'm the village idiot. Don't want to be THAT guy (which it appears I am at this point).

dschmieds should be coming back when everyone starts NBAing, plus we've always got Greear, so you're no worse than the third village idiot. For a 17 year old USC fan, you're probably running at about expectation

18*, important distinction as I can now discuss cigars with some knowledge, important during baseball playoff time of course.
