So we got robbed today while we were gone to work. They found a way to bust open the front door even though it was locked. Luckily we have renters insurance and most of what they took was electronics and our indoor cat didn't run away. Currently googling on whether this let's us break our lease w/o penalty but it's not looking good. Any lawyers with advice? Police report is already done.

fwiw the cop was confident the crooks had been going to other apartments in our complex as well bc another tenant he talked to mentioned finding the same type of paint chips below his lock from someone likely jimmying their lock, but somehow couldn't get into their apartment.

Sigh

damn man, i'm sorry to hear that. had to be one of the worst things that has ever happened to you. not to get all gunny, but spending the ~$200 for you and your significant other to get a concealed carry license will probably make you a little more confident going forward.

i'm not at all trivializing, nothing can change what has already happened. i'm just trying to put myself into the shoes of someone whose privacy has been broken.

I don't agree with him, but that's not what he's talking about.

I know when my folks got burglarized they just generally felt unsafe in their house for a while. For some people having a firearm is going to help psychologically.

Whether owning something that's good at killing people SHOULD make you feel better is another question, but nobody wants to have that conversation here.

i posted this in oot but someone figged my brothers iphone in atlanta, he was able to locate it with the gps and the cops busted into a "store" and found it in a bucket with dozens of other phones
