Incredibly rich coming on the heels of news about the Republicans trying to rig the Ohio vote in their favor

As always LOL Christian Right LOL social conservatives
I don't know that there's any correlation between age and social issues really. Each generation gets a little more tolerant to previous social issues.

victor,

nbc keeps talking about ohio provisional ballots and how they aren't even going to be counted for 10 days, so it is conceivable you could still vote if you go to the county clerk or whoever and tell them that your polling place ran out of provisional ballots.

ignore all this if you don't live in ohio. don't ignore this if they were talking about some other state. was paying half-attention while trying to play some pokerz before merge just kicked me off all my tables and shut down.

I have mirrored this. It's not in a vacuum though - the would-be conservative party in the US has made itself sorta a non-option, which impacts things. I'd happily vote republican again if they got their act right for president.

Touch screen dude at CNN is the reporting MVP of this election.

I got a little nervous seein the 16k difference in Florida but then touch dude points out remaining votes are located in areas where Obama is owning.

Yeah, my map is showing a ton of votes left in Miami. Those are blue as hell.

Romney must have FL, OH, and VA to have a shot. That's essentially the same thing we knew going into today. It's also still true he's not going to get them.

Right, the real issue is that the Republican party isn't traditionally conservative anymore, it's an unholy alliance of religious nuts and Tea Party extremists being led around by the wealthy.

to F60 and toddw8-- I think most people traditionally get more fiscally conservative as they get older because they have more to protect, or so the thinking goes. And many of them don't get more socially liberal, so as the world becomes more liberal they seem more conservative by comparison.

This goes back, I believe, to the 2000 election. Rove and George the Boy King knew they couldn't win outright given that absent the blowjob, Clinton was a great president. So they made a deal with the devil, namely the religious right.

No one expected or knew how Rove and his guys managed to bolster turn-out in rural areas but it became clear: they sold out to get the snake-handlers. It's a gamble they're paying off now and still not close to recovering from.

Chris Wallace and Karl Rove's arms are gonna be sore tomorrow. We're talking Level-Red Straw Grasping. I've never heard the word 'if' more times in a 30-second span.

I can imagine. Had the same feeling watching Murdoch wonder how he could've lost.

It might be relevant that I grew up in Kansas, so I had a lot of room to move to the left and not so much on the right.
