More or less racist then "I went to a black restaurant and were surprised to find people not behaving like savages"

(not a direct quote, but a lot closer to what he said than something a guy like him should be comfortable saying)

His "What, I said they WEREN'T acting like savages" completely missing the point defense was better imo

That's the subtle racism of lowered expectations. Bing Crosby said that.

How does the projected states work when they only have like 1% of voters reporting? Like as soon as the polls at Illinois close, do they just say boom Obama will win?

yes. when its a state that wont be close it doesnt matter if anyone is reporting yet. they just cant/wont announce it before the voting closes so as not to confuse people in that state who havent voted yet. basically they call it as soon as they can after poll closing without embarrassing themselves by being wrong.

Projections and trends.

If we a poll to pick the most lol fanbase in the NFL every week it wouldn't take long for prognosticators to start calling the results in favor of the Stealers even before the poll opened each week.

Re: SE FAQ, Liveblog and Election Day Discussion

Random liveblog thoughts:

Chris Mathews: "we are acting like a 3rd world country (with our voting lines, etc). no disrespect to 3rd world countries". LOL, yeah, no disrespect.

Clarkwife says she'd be Rachel Maddow's girlfriend. SUCK IT RACHEL I GOT HER FIRST! BOOM!

I question my wife's taste in women. Rachel talks out of the side of her mouth too much.

Clarkwife's Rachel Maddow research revealed Meredith Baxter-Birney from Family Ties is gay. Will keep you posted of further developments.

Huckabee on Fox News now. Great honesty admitting the Republicans have done a **** job of campaigning and appealing to non-whites. Finally someone owns it.

"Mike, yeah thats nice and all but have we reached out enough to the evangelicals?" Yes, clearly THAT is the problem lulz

LOL LINDA MCMAHON. I assume that's Vince's wife? Hysterical.

Close. FL and OH continue to trend Blue.

Thus far the only swap state from 2008-2012 is Indiana going back Red, but that was expected.

Re: SE FAQ, Liveblog and Election Day Discussion

Man, this side mouth talking thing of Maddow is irritating.

Fox seems to think the only two stats that count are 4 people dead in Libya and lots of people on foodstamps. MSNBC only cares about voter suppression. CNN out of the corner of my eye seems to be at least attempting to dissect the states in play in terms of what early returns mean based on the counties reporting.

the funny thing is, the guy, who was pretty exasperated, said i could fill out a provisional ballot. problem was, they were out of them and were waiting for the board to bring more over. i just heard on the news that the provisional forms were never even re-upped at that specific location.

id venture to say that was pure voter suppression as this was a super democratic (read: black) area of town.
