I think the first sign will be at 7:30. Virginia getting called early for Obama would be big, but I think it'll take a while even if he wins. North Carolina leans Romney more than those other states. If it's not called early that's a bad sign for him. If being called early isnt as bad a sign for Obama but means we're probably in for a pretty long night. If it's somehow called for Obama early, then Ohio probably would be as well, but in any case it's pretty much over.

That may be, but all the people who know how to use the information have Obama likely over 300 electoral votes, 332 the most likely single scenario. There's a strong incentive for pundits, no matter how well informed, to argue that it'll be close.
It's not a lock, but evidence points toward it being over at a reasonable hour this evening.
