Pretty sure that's the natural progression for the majority. Usually the reasoning for their views are never well founded.

Wiper being the exception of course.

think the "majority", by far, directly inherits their political views from their parents and doesn't think twice. if we're talking actual legitimately intelligent people, i just don't see that progression. maybe for a certain subsegment of "smart" people.

exactly true.

my evidence would be 9 years of teaching teenagers government. when i say, 'are you a dem or repub?' and then afterwards ask them why, and THEN ask them if their parents are the same political party they'd consider themselves to be, they understand.

my teacher in government did the same thing, 'oh hey i'm a democrat!' 'why wiper?' 'because....uhh....because....' 'because your parents are?' obv in front of my peers at 17 i'm all 'yeah **** my parents i think for myself!' but i knew at that point...he had me.

i think riverman accurately showed the progression, obv not everyone follows that same liberal/conservative path, but most go through that change when they're finally developed enough to think on their own and not just spew back what they hear at home.

Gotta love the "stay out of influencing young minds" argument in a place that is specifically designed to do just that (teaching).

well, yeah okay. not what i meant but point taken.

i mean more i'm basically the only person 99% of those kids are gonna hear talking about politics, and i'd rather they figured out their values themselves than just spew back mine like they do their parents'.

In fairness to myself, this burning pile of Qu'rans doesn't provide much light to work with so it's slow going.

Sounds like

To me. Maybe it's a generational thing, but most people my age that I've talked to about politics went through Wiper's progression. I just got out of undergrad a year ago.

I also went to 'smart' schools, so maybe it is a bias towards that?

loretta is right. i hate mish mashes. if i ever play another WW game, i think ill just stick to vanilla. it's more fun imo and not as much of a time sink.

mishmashes are super high variance in terms of how fun they are

higher ceiling of enjoyment but also far higher ceiling of tilt/butthurt

Yeah I don't understand the appeal of vanilla games. I've never played one (nor a turbo) but I can see how a turbo might be fun. A long vanilla game seems like it would be incredibly boring.

Vanilla games seem more about logic to me, mish mashes far too often seem like a crap shoot unless they're perfectly balanced
