exactly true.
my evidence would be 9 years of teaching teenagers government. when i say, 'are you a dem or repub?' and then afterwards ask them why, and THEN ask them if their parents are the same political party they'd consider themselves to be, they understand.
my teacher in government did the same thing, 'oh hey i'm a democrat!' 'why wiper?' 'because....uhh....because....' 'because your parents are?' obv in front of my peers at 17 i'm all 'yeah **** my parents i think for myself!' but i knew at that point...he had me.
i think riverman accurately showed the progression, obv not everyone follows that same liberal/conservative path, but most go through that change when they're finally developed enough to think on their own and not just spew back what they hear at home.
