I just heard today that the wrestling commentator Jerry "The King" Lawlor took a heart attack live on the show the other night. Madness.

Edit:- And the show carried on! Wtf is that about?

They carried on when that guy fell to his death so not sure why they would stop for some piddlin' heart attack.

ETA: Also since wrestling is basically athletic theater, they are just sticking true to the maxim that the show must go on.

assuming the summaries are accurate:

1. no international player pool
2. states are opt-out by default and must opt-in
3. if you play an unlicensed site or an opt-out state you're subject to asset forfeiture
4. there's some rumor about taxes on deposits, idk if that's been confirmed or refuted, but that could be disastrous
5. pokerstars can't return for 5 years minimum

edit: don't get me wrong, it's better than the current format, but it is absurdly worse than pre-uiega days. i mean, it's worse than uiega-BF days

pretty much if you're a recreational player, w/e, this doesn't really effect you. if you play for a living and you're abroad already to play stars, you're not coming back for this

edit for preemptive response to karak: i don't believe that magical fed bill that washes away the last 6 years of bull**** is coming. yes, i believe it's likely this or nothing in the way of getting federal legislation done. i don't think waiting for states to pop up one by one and hoping they pool a player base is going to be the answer especially considering how slowly they're each of those states are dragging their feet

one way or the other i find it hard to believe poker in the US will be beatable long-term for anyone but a select elite group and i lament that 6 years of getting our balls stomped in has come to hoping a nut low bill passes because if it isn't stars will have been replaced by ****ing piece of **** merge that can go belly up at any moment

did you mean response FOR karak rather than TO? because that's like... a very good summation of pretty much how i feel.

this bill is about as good as it's going to get. the summary is reliable as of right now.

the asset forfeiture stuff is getting overblown i think. when you look at the summary closely, the reason for having that in there should be pretty clear.

discussion of whether or not it actually can pass is something different entirely.

anarchist, you can troll me, but im just trying to help people understand what's going on.

i also obviously dont think a poker bill is anything near a lock, of course. it's not even over 50% right now.

****, why not just make poker completely illegal in every way shape or form; that seems much more to-the-point than that legislation
