One thing my roommate and I were talking about the other day is that every comedy movie in the last say 6 years pretty much recycles the same 10 or so actors. It's getting really annoying.

edit: im far from a historian, but also seems like stiller and wilsons careers overlap a fair amount, not that its a bad thing.

also every $250 million summer blockbuster ever made should be watched expecting best picture quality on the basis of one outlier performance in the entire trilogy and to go into the movie expecting any less is stupid and not understanding of the art of cinematography

haha i was just [censored] around. but yeah that's the problem with film comedy is that it's all the same guys making movies, generally. i can't think of the last one i saw that was genuinely different (i guess 40 yo virgin which started this whole mess, to a large degree).

Juno is decent.

Hot Tub Time Machine is pretty damn funny, not close best anything, but it's entertaining as hell.

Little Miss Sunshine wasn't really bad- but I'm not really sure what it did beyond say "it's ok to be weird" over and over and over again. I wanted that fat girl to get mauled by a dog.

Sideways is a boring movie about boring people that's really well made and well acted.

Fair point about most recent comedies being filled with the same actors, although its pretty obvious why. Same reason we see dozens of comic book movies. Its easy money and those guys have huge appeal. Some funny ones mixed in there though.

I still think "Grown Ups" was really quite funny, much funnier than expected. Same sort of deal though, albeit from a slightly older comedy crew/ex-snl'ers.

damn, trying to think of some more that don't have one of those guys that came out recently, and I can't really think of any. That sort of sucks I guess.

Hangover 2 was turrrrrble btw
