Skimming that OOT thread on the Batman film:

- way too many fanbois. Maybe that's just because I thought the movie was mediocre, but an awful lot of talk about GOAT for a film that was drowning in cliche.

- why are people still posting in spoilers? THE MOVIE IS OUT. Anyone who opens that thread should expect to get spoiled.

Still waiting on the future utopia of co-ed showers that Starship Troopers promised me.

The only thing that could possibly be disappointing about DKR is if you were expecting it to be the superhero film to finally break through and be a legitimate best picture nominee. It's reaches the pinnacle of the action/adventure genre and ends the trilogy well...can't ask for much more from a summer blockbuster.

Spoiler:
Nothing wrong with taking two seconds to make sure nothing gets ruined for people who haven't seen a three-day-old film.

If you view TDKR as a third act it's pretty incredible, it's probably the weakest of the "trilogy" by itself. But it's very impressive to tie it all up like that seeing how awful others have been at such lately.

Baby.... you make me wish I had 3 hands!

Edit: And the 1st batman was great. And the last Indiana Jones was the best. And Godfather III was awful, even without comparing it to the other 2. They're cousins!

That blows. I had a good crowd when I went. Clapped for the first time Batman showed up, couple of gasps, but other than that nothing.

Because this isn't a Batman thread. People aren't necessarily expecting spoilers ITT.

Nobody is going to agree in entirety with the gif that etats posted, however I think it's really close to consensus and I agree with it for the most part.

Also, saw TDKR today and I hate to be that guy again but found it extremely MEHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. One fairly substantial issue is that I couldn't figure out what the **** Bane was saying. Also, far too much reliance on the staple of bad movies where instead of just insta-killing, the bad guy lectures and stalls too long, then help arrives "just in the nick of time" to save the day.
I thought it was entertaining enough to be worth seeing, but I share your overall feeling of disappointment.

I thought Bane's voice was really cool when I understood him, but a lot of times I had NFI what he was saying and it drove me nuts. And I feel like the insta-kill thing wasn't the only crap movie tactic that they heavily employed, although I don't have any examples off the top of my head. I had just watched The Dark Knight the day before to get hyped up (it was amazing obv), and TDKR really pales in comparison imo.

Re: Batman Begins, that was a good and fresh take on the origin story, which tends to be problematic for superhero movies, especially reboots. Plus Ken Watanabe and Liam Neeson = win.

Yeah the backstory stuff in Begins was awesome. Agree with Clark that BB > TDK for pretty much the exact same reasons

Man, I almost walked out of TDKR twice, partially for some of the reasons mentioned here. The whole story felt like a mess and I really didn't care about any of the characters at all.

While I realize that a suspension of disbelief is obviously required to fully enjoy the film (and that the outcome is more or less known beforehand), having had a day to ruminate about it I can't really bring myself to rate this higher than say 6/10.

That said, its predecessor TDK was a really, really good film and for my taste Joker >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Bane. God, Joker was just such an awesome villain.

When the dust settles I believe that consensus will more closely align with my viewpoints.

Bane is a really really awesome villain, it's just that they didn't spend enough time to truly do him justice. Just a guy who is always in control and doesn't give a ****. His first scene shows that.

I also think that since we as an audience had Ledger's joker before Bane we judge it harder. If we see this movie before TDK, Bane is probably viewed much higher.
