yeah reese was worthless but terminator manages to do things like tell a compelling story and build tension whereas t2 is just set piece after set piece and special effect after special effect. oh and arnold hamming it up to an outrageous degree.

t2 was the movie that taught cameron he could basically ignore story all together in favor of special effects and everyone would eat it up. then we got avatar. but a lot of people love avatar too so what do i know.

terminator 1>2 but most people here are at an age where they were blown away by the special effects of 2 as a kid even though as a movie it was much worse.

terminator 1 is a better movie overall but terminator 2 is a way better spectacle - tough to separate the two. i mean yeah terminator is set piece after set piece but they're all executed really well.

that's fair - i don't really watch movies that are setpiece after setpiece anymore so it's tough for me to say 'well, for that kind of movie, it's the GOAT'

watched die hard 2 for the first time recently and yeah that movie blows.

oh and while we're talking about movies from that era, the original batman kinda sucks.

maybe so - i've never read the comic books or anything - but i just remember it being really dark and boring. i don't like the tim burton aesthetic at all, so that probably doesn't help. (exception: beetlejuice)

oh also re: that sequels list - godfather 3 is a better movie than die hard 2. also, godfather 3 is like an average movie, it's just horrible compared to the other two.
