watching varsity blues. it is weird how this movie has become a parody of itself. van der beek just busted out the "i don't want your life" line, and it was like a joke on this viewing, but when i watched it back in high school i was like 'truth, dawson, truth'

Yeah 1 is by far the worst but it's really just the result of nothing really huge happening in the first book, then the abrupt ending was brutal. Still remember the groans in the theater when I saw it.

first 3 are all pretty similar imo

the fourth one looks like crap

and the Bourne books are some of the worst writing I've ever seen, Ludlum makes Dan Brown's dialogue look Tarantino-esque

I wouldn't say it's awful lol. If you've seen the film before reading the books, anyone would get tilted by how much time is spent in the shire and how nothing of note really happens. Tolkein never wrote it as three (or 6) separate books.

Fwiw I liked the first film because they cut out most of the early stuff and the ending was fine as it set up the second film perfectly.
