Re: SE FAQ, Liveblog and Forum Discussion

watching varsity blues. it is weird how this movie has become a parody of itself. van der beek just busted out the "i don't want your life" line, and it was like a joke on this viewing, but when i watched it back in high school i was like 'truth, dawson, truth'

I mean what trilogies ARE 2>1>3? Mighty Ducks maybe? Maybe Godfather although I think the first is best.

"New Star Wars" and "best" do not compute.

First 3 Alien movies are a plausible 2>1>3, as is LoTR

Counter examples also include Indiana Jones (#4 never happened)

First 3 mission Impossibles (3>>1>>>>>2)

Tobey Maguire Spiderman.

Die Hard

Re: SE FAQ, Liveblog and Forum Discussion

Yeah 1 is by far the worst but it's really just the result of nothing really huge happening in the first book, then the abrupt ending was brutal. Still remember the groans in the theater when I saw it.

Re: SE FAQ, Liveblog and Forum Discussion

first 3 are all pretty similar imo

the fourth one looks like crap

and the Bourne books are some of the worst writing I've ever seen, Ludlum makes Dan Brown's dialogue look Tarantino-esque

Damn thats a tough one. I haven't seen the 2nd one recently enough to give a proper ranking, but I think they are all really close

I wouldn't say it's awful lol. If you've seen the film before reading the books, anyone would get tilted by how much time is spent in the shire and how nothing of note really happens. Tolkein never wrote it as three (or 6) separate books.

Fwiw I liked the first film because they cut out most of the early stuff and the ending was fine as it set up the second film perfectly.

Re: SE FAQ, Liveblog and Forum Discussion

The first one is just really boring as a book, iirc it took me like 4 days to read it and i read the other two longer ones in 3 days total
