Houston def is hot and humid during the summer. Remember going to my nephew's little league game a couple of years ago at like eight in the morning in July and just sweating my balls off.

exactly. you can't just say cold>hot without examining the total experience of both.

Depends on what your temperature range of hot and cold is, too.

Where I live it gets pretty brutal, -20 in January sometimes. The summer heat gets up to 105-110. -20 is so miserable, I'll snap take the 110 without thinking twice.

When it's 100 degrees out, you sit your ass inside with the AC. You can still go skiing and sledding and stuff when it's cold

Depends on where you live. I can't go skiing when it's cold, but I can still go to the pool and hang out with friends and attractive women wearing next to nothing when it's 100 degrees out. Maybe if I lived in Colorado I'd prefer the cold, because at least then I could go snowboarding all the time.

exactly.

i don't think some of the people here know how bad a january can be when it never gets above freezing.

couple years ago, we had a week stretch where the temp never got about 0 (not 32, 0). wind chills were in the -20's every night. that **** is not even comparable to it being 100 for a few days in july/august. plus, when that happens it almost always breaks (rain/thunderstorms then back down to 80) within a couple days. when it's brutally cold it stays brutally cold.

one night, i saw on TWC that the wind chill was -30 so i wanted to see how cold that really is. went outside in a hoodie, the shorts i had on inside and some sandals. i lasted 10 minutes, but after like 1-2 i had retreated from the parking lot to directly up against the condo we were living in at the time. i remember realizing that if i didn't have anywhere to go, i would literally die that night. like, lay down to curl up and try to stay warm, fall asleep and die.

100 degrees you aren't gonna die from sleeping/sitting.

northeast ohio has very distinct seasons (as does nebraska where you're from i think). we get the bad cold and the bad hot.

i still refuse to believe people who know both well would seriously pick the really cold (and all that comes with it) over the really hot (and all that comes with that).

I much prefer the really cold and I know that many of my friends who grew up in brutal winters feel the same.

This whole discussion is way too OOT-ish

Exactly. I actually just spent an entire weekend outside with the fri/sat/sun/mon temps being 101, 99, 103, 104. Camped out at the lake, went swimming, spent a whole day tubing down the river... Lots of cold brewskies, grilled steaks, etc. It was fantastic.

I've been sitting through my nephew's little league games in precisely these conditions. Well, other than the no water thing. Quite sweaty but I'd snap-call it over a football game in the cold any day.

as a teacher, i'm obviously heavily biased towards june/july/august.

that aside, i still prefer spring to fall because spring means winter is over and fall means winter is coming.

fall would be awesome except you know the misery that awaits.

normally i feel you, but there absolutely no way possible that people can prefer cold to hot.

and if they do, they're wrong.

these things are the worst. for a reasonable cost, an exterminator spraying 3-4 times a year in a few places of your house and yard will basically eliminate them.
