Well Robert Jordan had a much worse issue with what he was dealing with, namely that everything needed to complete the story was way too ****ing much and needed to be covered in ridic detail.

Sanderson is amazing ofc.

I think people just naturally claim that multipart works get worse as they go on, whether it's true or not for various reasons. Whether it be Lost (which the best season was 5 IMO), GoT or other things. Sometimes it's accurate re: Matrix

The later GoT books only (or at least primarily) seem slow because we have to wait 5 years for each new one.

well i think a lot of people just refuse to admit that things they liked might have gotten worse.

no it's primarily because he added 50 million pov characters that most people don't give a **** about.

SPOILER FOR FUTURE GOT BOOKS

Spoiler:
and that there's been very little movement forward for Dany and Jon as it relates to the broader storyline and in Dany's case what we've seen felt super wheel spinning.

God damnit...I want to discuss this but I've only just started the second book. I enjoyed the first about as much as I enjoyed Fellowship.

You wondered where all the white people came from at the start of the Wire S2 didn't you?

I mean I agree that I want more of the characters I've seen in the first 3 books, BUT that's majorly exacerbated by the waiting 5 years to find out what happens. He's nowhere near as recursive as Robert Jordan, for example, as Jordan released a book a year and the main characters progressed in real time as fast as they do in GoT.

MORE POPULAR OPINIONS FROM DIDS:

I think (as a work of commercial fiction, which is not what LOTR is trying to be at all) that I prefer GoT to LOTR. Tolkien's great if you want to wander about in his world and listen to songs and soak in the back story of everything, as a story it's even more meandering and weirdly plotted imo.

"not as bad as robert jordan" isn't much of an endorsement imo.

the wire and asoif are trying to do two completely different things. that's not a good analogy.

i took 2:1 dark knight rises makes > $2 billion in box office gross and 5:1 it finishes as the highest-grossing film of all time. 2.7 billion is a lot, but i'm confident this is free money

for people who complain that GoT s1 > GoT s2, please consider the show that got tediously dull by the end of s1, and then took a dive off a 5 meter springboard at the beginning of s2, proceeded to dig a tunnel into the sewage midway, poisoned our water tables at the end of s2, and then finally shook hands with China during its s2 christmas special.

Spoiler:
downtown abbey

it is now an expensive pile of crap which is somehow still being heralded as a masterpiece. ****ing brits.

Saw TDK with a few friends for the first time on the day it premiered in Japan. Obviously it was a bonerfest for us, but the theater was only half full and the overall reaction was underwhelming.
