come on Karak...they are at a baseball game, not clicking links on the interwebz and getting rickrolled. baseball fans would get sick of that song mighty quick i'd think.

Agreed. The novelty of something I have loved for 10 years being on TV has kind of worn off at this point.

Re-reading the 3rd book at this exact moment and it is getting me excited for the next season though.

Book readers seem to not enjoy the show as much.

"Blackwater" best ep of the entire series, but on balance, I thought S1 was stronger, though that has as much to do with the source material as anything the show did or didn't do.

Re: SE FAQ, Liveblog and Forum Discussion

cuz it's true, usually. I haven't read GoT yet but I will someday. I think most of the book readers jmp'd over the first season due to accuracy. I felt the same way about The Fellowship of the Ring, but was somewhat disappointed by The Two Towers and The Return of the King.

Re: SE FAQ, Liveblog and Forum Discussion

Accuracy isn't really my problem, I have no problem treating the two as different things and judging them in their own right. It would probably be more disappointing if they tried to breathe life into every page of the books and nail the story 100%. Now that I'm reading the books again, the main problem is that I just have never enjoyed the show as much as I enjoy reading the books. It is fun to watch and is definitely appointment viewing (24 hours after release because I don't have HBO and have to use other methods), but mainly because it has got my girl enthralled and there are like zero scripted shows that we both like. The books on the other hand I can just lose hours in with the blink of an eye, and still want to read more. I have all the episodes from both seasons and I can't think of a time I have ever watched one twice. Also, I don't know why every cums theirself over "Blackwater". Edit: and I'm going to contradict myself because I actually did watch that one twice after listening to a Grantland podcast about how great it was and seeing stuff around the internet. I mean it was good, but I don't know if I would call it the best episode. Maybe knowing what would happen kinda made it lose some luster.

LotR is an okay example because that was another series with over a decade between my first read and the release of the first film, but I enjoyed watching those movies far more than I ever did reading the book.
