Determining who is the best at covering up cheating does not qualify as a sporting event.

That's why I have been wishing for years that they would just say "**** it, cheat if you want". Then I wouldn't have to hear sanctimonious ****s talk about the purity of the sport and how they are so much better than their cycling brethren who cheat, or watch a sport that has banned all of its best participants. Bring back the days when you could do a line of coke off of the handlebars and the only thing people had to say was, "hey, you got some for me."

I was at Corleone's today getting my philly to go and as usual they had ESPN absolutely BLARING. This time they were playing that Jim Valvano speech from 1993. It occurred to me that without the serendipity of Lorenzo Charles and the massive upset of Houston a decade earlier, he would have probably died largely unknown outside of the ACC. Instead he was catapulted to being a big personality on ESPN and ultimately a very public victim of cancer.

Even though I've heard it a bunch of times it really was a fantastic speech, and everyone in the place was watching it. But my sandwich (buffalo chicken w/blue cheese) was ready partway through so I didn't stick around to hear the rest.

If Seth Meyers hosted it every year, I might watch

The NFL was awesome 'cause its the NFL, but I just didn't think it was quite as good as previous years and all the teams I like went out early. Tebow v. Steelers was incredible obv.

Other than that, like every sport sucked. Baseball is baseball, CFB had the WOAT title game, there was tons of lol soccer and 0-0 victories, John Calipari won by cheating in non-exciting fashion, LeBron won, etc. Just not a great year.
