I created a "Jimmy James" page on facebook because Jimmy James is my hero and I couldn't find a page for him that I could "like"
i was in houston for NU's bowl game last winter and went to two ELIte mexican places, one was a classy sit down restaurant i cant remember the name of.

the other i think was called chacho's, we went late night and drunk, and there were numerous cops out front making sure everyone behaved. food was great though. quite the atmosphere.

chacho's is awesome for late night, even better than taco cabana (but there are fewer of them and they're further from where i am)

my favorite places in town are the locally-owned ones that look run down but make great food super cheap. there are a couple not far from me, and one of them has a really great tequila bar too.

just make sure not to yelp about it so other white people don't invade and conquer it

well, i'm pretty white, so it's probably too late for that. i do hate that whole "report every experience you have and location you visit to social media" trend though

This bothers me too.

When I do yelp it's usually after a terrible experience or a series of good experiences at one place.

also, what's the deal with sites like foursquare and stuff awarding "points" and "bonuses" if you complete check-ins at a certain number of locations or something? it's like they're trying to turn life into the lamest RPG ever.

Gamification of society. Jane McGonigal writes/talks a lot about it. Fairly interesting stuff - people respond very well to this kind of stimulus.

So weird. I can see where I might do it for something like working out, where you want to meet tangible goals of performance, but for things like going out? I do those things for fun, not to accumulate a certain number of experiences. I don't want to turn social activity into level-grinding.
