Colin,

Been rocking an iphone for a whopping 4 months now. Just saying 2p2 should make it easy for people.

does anyone else sometimes wake up from mid-day naps (even like a 10 minute "power nap") gasping for air because they stopped breathing or something?

Like it only happens in naps during the day, and I'm fairly certain I don't have sleep apnea or anything. WTF? Sometimes, but not always, coincides with some sort of horrific dream. I rarely dream and even more rarely have "nightmares" when sleeping at night (well ok I know I do dream, but I rarely remember them).

not really, and i was tested for sleep apnea due to an unrelated health condition a few years ago and that's all perfectly fine. no sleep apnea. it seems to coincide with some sort of dream. i read something online about naps being in the "stress of the day" prompting our subconscious to have "more violent" dreams. googling seems to indicate this not breathing phenomena during naps only is much more common than i anticipated.

ive gotten in the habit of drinking a red bull or cup of coffee pretty quickly and then lying down for 15-20 minutes during the mid-afternoon. assuming it isn't one of these times where this stupid thing happens, it does absolute miracles for my productivity. usually only spend about 10 minutes of that sleeping, and i naturally wake up due to the caffeine intake feeling refreshed. don't even need to set an alarm. anything longer than 15-20 mins and i wake up groggy.

only problem is not having an office at work where i can reasonably do this during my lunch break and people won't think im falling asleep on the job (altho im currently off of work for bar study, so that's ok).

Naps are for sleep experts. People who diss naps also probably sit to pee and pronounce OOT "oot as in shoot". lol @ those people.

As for naps going too long, I always set my phone alarm to alleviate any anxiety about oversleeping. Kill the ringer and incoming tones to avoid any unwanted interruption.

Per sleep books I've read, optimal nap times to align with body cycles are 15 (I set my phone for 20 to allow for time to power down), 45, or 90 minutes.

can we get all these Euro QF R1 threads off the front page? im the last person to ever complain about too many threads for the same ****, but this is too much. makes the front page borderline unreadable thanks to 6 threads approx 12 people have posted in total. is there any reason this can't be all in one threadzilla?
