Great page but most people are so mouse dependent, although maybe less so in the laptop/tablet age. I once tried to educate an office on the value and benefit of keyboard shortcuts but they couldn't care less.

Well you may be right but it prevented me from spending 2-3X that on an iPad so it did provide real personal benefit.

There's something really sad about MLS fan bases, like they're trying really hard to be Euros but with ****ty players and zero tradition. If we could get Cardo in here, I think he'd agree that they're a perfect zero on the realness scale.

Timbers Army was like that before they were an MLS team. They actually have a decent degree of honest tradition. Very Portland of them. (but I'd say that statement is very true for other MLS teams and mos def the Sounders)

idk, i think it's just ppl who like soccer. they aren't trying to be Euros, they just enjoy the game (like there are prob a fair number of ppl in NA who would say that soccer is their fav sport), and are supporting their local team. and really, the league isn't that bad. no one is delusional about how good it is, obv it pales to the major Euro leagues, but it's aight.

but yeah a lot of Americans seem to have trouble getting interested in anything that isn't "best of the best", but will watch a lot of random [censored] they don't care about that is.

Cardo might agree, but i just think they're real ppl who like soccer and enjoy having a good time. and a MLS game can be that at times.

Soccer strikes me as almost like Waiting For Godot. You're waiting for someone to score, and often enough, no one does, but the suspense/tension of near-hits drives interest and there's a whole lot of flailing about and tomfoolery and hanky-panky. Football is sort of like a Cormac McCarthy novel.

soccer is a lot like poker. making positive plays does not always result in wins. over time the best come out ahead.

Lol at this, why don't they just be like normal American fans that sit around for the pa to prompt them to do something. So much better than grass root fans organizing themselves and creating awesome atmosphere at games.

US sports needs more charge chants and "don't stop believing" anthems.

I think the criticism of MLSfan is somewhat fair in terms of people acting like how they "should". That said, if the stadium is full(ish) it works pretty well.

I mean, what? The.opposite is fans largely doing nothing. The criticism does not make sense unless you think mls fans are poseurs, (maybe true).

Re: SE FAQ, Liveblog and Forum Discussion

The Timbers and Sounders have a pretty long tradition and strong fanbases dating well before they were admitted into the MLS. Not that I am a fan of soccer at all, but the PacNW is nothing if not supportive of semi-pro teams in fringe sports (hockey comes to mind too).

Re: SE FAQ, Liveblog and Forum Discussion

The basketball programs here are VERY real. We just had a guy who pimped out his 16 year old girlfriend to other UW athletes. I'm not sure what is more real than that.
