Phoenix TR:
I stayed in Glendale with family, to attend my cousins wedding. Nice 7000 square foot house with a very nice guest house. The houses are amazing there; but that's where it stops. I don't get how you can live in a place that lacks real grass. It's all rocks and sand everywhere!!!
Went to the Diamondback/Giants game; 8 errors and the home team coming from behind to win is always a recipe for a fun time. They have petty good stadium hot dogs, and even better; they have a chant that sounds very similar to "LETS GO D-BAGS!".
Shooting range was a
blast; as a Canadian, this was something that I had ranked pretty high on my things to do list. Clay shooting with a 12 gauge shot gun was awesome; and I did a lot better then I expected to do. Could've spent the whole day there.
Other than that; bleh.
Last 3 days, we decided to take a road trip through the grand canyon (very nice, but you can't really stay longer then 1 or 2 hours). Carried on through to Vegas. Stayed at the Venetian. Thoroughly enjoyed my stay. I just hate the idea of having to walk through the smoke filled casino (especially with my pregnant wife), just to get to the hotel elevators. Played a little roulette at the Bellagio, then moved to poker at the Venetian (around 4am) while practically falling asleep at the table. Lost my stack to an old Asian lady on a K23 board with two diamonds, she 4-bet all in with AA. I had A5 of diamonds. I didn't get there. (she apologized for winning!
) gg.
Overall, would not recommend Phoenix to anyone for vacation; but for living; if you're not big on grass, it's great. Seems to have a very good standard of living and overall, nice people and great investment opportunities (with land being so cheap now).
