things that suck about film/tv/media discussion on 2p2

1 - hyperbole
2 - over-analysis
3 - pretentious-ass mother****ers

Which one of those three is Phill? Or is he his own category?

+1, although I've enjoyed the posts (sans Chicken Kiev) about Mad Men.

But this could be because I like watching movies/tv/media just to be entertained with a good "product", not to delve deep into the creators mind/intentions and speculate what everything means. Some people dig that **** though, and they work at pitchfork and various other nerd media outlets.

I would put "idiots" at #1, but that's just me.

If in-depth analysis of creative works makes you a nerd, then buy me the house at the corner of Nerd Avenue and Geek Street. Personally, I don't want anything* in my life to be mindless-- I guess it's fine if you do, but I still don't understand people's need to call other people who don't want things that way nerds.

* - exception: Well-executed stupid comedies that still make me laugh really, really hard, which is the most important thing in comedy anyway.

mindless was not what I meant. Not a biggie anyway, I am not really a literary person, never have been. Thats basically what I was getting at. Fair enough about the nerd comment lol.

Oh and I definitely agree that there are pretentious people who outthink themselves and get everything wrong or communicate it badly. The best works have depth and clarity.

I mostly agree, but there's a difference between deep analysis and too much analysis.

This is your best post ever.

Edit: Change that to "This post is really good" to avoid hyperbole.

i feel like the offense sheet in the first post should be wiped clean soon. it has become too big imo. perhaps someone should go through the current ones and make a hall of fame for the best reasons for bannings first though

I am a nit for spelling usernames right, and since I had ActionJacson with all the proper capitalization on my clipboard I just went ahead and pasted it in appropriate fields in advance, so all that needs to be edited in is the reason (which could also probably be pasted in now too).

But where did it come from?

At least with Muresan/Keevin you have Ovechkin/Crosby as a backdrop to it. It seemed like one day AJ showed up, made some bad posts, and somehow became tuq's personal pet project.

moot comparison since keevin is hanging by to a permaban cliff.

comparing tuq-aj to murs-kevin is like comparing salt'n'peppa to milli-vanilli.
