To be fair, it's not so much that they're lazy and dumb as much as relative to his earlier work (I'm a TV critic hipster?) they're lazier and dumber. Still reasonably good, and the access he tends to have make him valuable, but he's lost something off his fastball.

It may just be that I'm seeing more of his reviews of comedy- where I disagree with his taste a lot more than I do with dramas.

To say something nice, his podcast partner Dan Fienberg always impresses me with how sharp and thoughtful he is on their podcast. I wish he wrote more about stuff that interested me, because I'm very impressed by him.

i don't read sepinwall but the guy basically watches tv all day and writes about it. seems like it's pretty difficult to stay fresh doing that all the time, because he's putting out just so much content

also writing about tv comedy is impossible

Sepinwall has gotten too much access to be truly critical of some shows. He also writes about so many different shows and afaik doesn't even have an editor for his weekly reviews. However he deserves a ton of credit for basically inventing this type of tv reviewing.

I remember Fienberg dancing circles around Sepinwall on their podcast about Twin Peaks.

Also triumph/pudgeisright about it being impossible to write about tv comedy on a weekly basis.
