I was going to say that this wasn't the case for The Mind of the Married Man (a show I enjoyed but was one of maybe five people who ever watched it), but looked it up and it ran for two seasons. Although only 20 episodes, which counts for two in HBO's world but barely a single season on the networks.

I guess my post wasn't super clear, but I didn't mean to imply what dids is implying. I think it got shut down because of the horse deaths. Milch seems to be just as upset as PETA/anybody else because horse racing is apparently a huge passion of his. But, I do believe that if the show were a ratings hit, HBO might have been willing to take the heat. Maybe Milch would have shut it down anyway.

mighta been mentioned already, but any size-type of Acid cigar is probably right down your alley.

I have a humidor in my basement with maybe 15 decent-great cigars but haven't even opened it other than to change the pillow since last fall. smoking cigars is a porch-in-nice-weather kind of thing and ever since I quit cigs I haven't really had the taste for them that often.

Oliva Serie O are a very nice smoke and a good cigar for a beginner. Still one of my favorite smokes. They aren't well stocked quite everywhere, but if you see them, grab one. I'd stay away from Serie V for now if they have them.

Torano Silver and Gold Exodus are also probably a good starter smoke, albeit they might be a bit on the spicy side for the inexperienced palette.

If you want to be a cheap ass and smoke a piece of glorified paper, you could always try a Helix, Acid or one of those asinine Java cigars. Kill yourself if you do, though.

Romeo y Julietas are another good beginner brand.

Punch as a brand generally isn't the greatest for a new smoker, but the Punch Rare Corojo (if you can find them anywhere... not even sure if they are in season atm) are another nice line to try.

I've been into cigars for about 8 years now. Anyone else here smoke regularly? I don't get to smoke weekly anymore (or ****, even monthly since I moved to DC) since I live in a stupid city that hates smoking + my apartment bans it anywhere on the grounds, but I try to work them in as often as possible when visiting friends or if I have time to hit up a cigar lounge.

Classic,

Sorry- didn't mean to suggest that's what you specifically were saying. It's just something that a lot of people are putting out there.

I usually smoke two cigars per round of golf, one on each nine. The back nine cigar is a dark leaf Ashton that I have come to appreciate because it's strong and burns slow so I can milk it for almost the entire nine. Front nine selection varies but usually something lighter.

Other than that I rarely smoke them, but a few years ago I was playing pai gow (with none other than goof.yballer, among others) at NYNY and they let us smoke cigars at the table MUCH TO THE DISMAY of everyone within fifty yards.

So...

R.I.P Luck?

Also, The Wire wasn't great ratings wise in it's 1st or 2nd seasons. (moreso with 1st IIRC)

I remember when BET tried airing episodes lol

Not only that, but they pretty much all get killed or arrested and are replaced with a fresh batch of new, similar looking characters.

Fully serialized shows like The Wire are always going to struggle. Watch from Day 1 or GFY

Just reading through the OP for the listed bans; why do the placeholders for actionjacson stop after only the 7th offense category? Is he not good enough to be placed in the upper mega elite echelon, alongside the late Epipen and grear10?

(I actually have nothing against AJ; just thought the placeholders were a good touch).

And It seems this thread does eventually always cycle around the same topics. The wire, Karaks fingers...and I think it's only a few days away to going back to Radiohead.

season 2 tho

but seriously, there are a lot of white characters on the show too, and i don't think i ever struggled too much confusing characters when watching the first time. probably less than with say The Sopranos, for example (way less "wait, who's that guy again?" moments). maybe it's just me though...

Well it actually took me multiple episodes to figure out that Stringer Bell and Avon Barksdale were two different people. I think because they didn't show them together for awhile I didn't realize there was more than one boss.
