I'm finding the celebrations in the UK tonight over Thatcher's death really surreal. Obviously she was divisive...but she won 3 democratic elections. She wasn't a dictator. Not only that, she's been completely debilitated by dementia - what does her tranquil death at the age of 87 change?

To be fair to the departed, it can be rather difficult to enjoy when you want to stab everyone to death every time they say anything.

I'm also going to guess you've only seen Shawshank on TBS, where they rather mangled the dialog to get the profanity cut out without inserting *bleeping* sounds. Several scenes with witty, insightful dialog between prisoners are turned to irritatting sequences of people looking back and forth at each other, then laughing. Weird.

Actually, that Margaret Thatcher moviemay be more over rated, by being described as 'bad' rather than face-meltingly terrible. Hey guys, how can we make the Iron Lady a sympathetic figure? Oooo, I know--let's show her old and destroyed by alzheimers, randomly flashing back to stuff she may have done and said or not.

Exactly when would they go from really really pissed off to actual brassed off status? Would they be willing to go the full monty to show their anger? Perhaps express themselves through dance or cross-dressing?

Also, isn't that the country where "pissed" means drunk? And "piss off" means go away? Yet still "pissed off" means the same...seems unweildy.

yes confirmed, someone in the politards forum posted a link to a picture of a liverpudlian dancing with his **** out at the news of lady thatcher's death. the link was deleted by wookie though.

edit, yes you have pissed off/pissed/piss off all correct.

Lets be honest, Jesus could be tortured in the middle of the bar and the Scots would think it was time for a celebration.

tough to say what would be celebrated more up there, a scottish world cup win or maggie thatcher's death. they are def 1 & 2 in some order. and since one of those things is definitely never happening, we can assume maggie is realistically #1.
