6+ years ain't recent-ish, and season 10 of south park is awesome. Below 8 for sure, and probably 9, but 10 is a solid one.

seems better than the catholic church policy of thinking about every issue for 2000 years and still getting it wrong ~every time

I'm absolutely not trolling. That someone who believes in God must be unintelligent or irrational is incredibly shortsighted. Typically this forum doesn't fall into the hive mind of "we must taunt people who are different from us," but I'm obviously not surprised to see it with religion and fully expected it would happen when I made those posts. I won't back down either. I'm not going to be bullied into abandoning defense of my most important beliefs when they come up in topical discussion.

Unfortunately, general mockery tends to take the place of actual constructive discussion in many forums. That's why RGT is a more appropriate discussion forum and not that thread.

i'm not sure at what exact point south park became a vehicle for aggressively pushing parker and stone's poorly thought out political views but it was definitely more than 6 years ago

Alright, let me go about this a different way. "That episode beats you in the face with its incorrect political point (the idiotic 'atheism is a religion, too!' canard) in a way that I have noticed other South Park episodes doing as well. The frequency of this appears to be increasing from season to season, in my casual estimation."

That's wrong. This forum has always openly condemned beliefs not backed by sufficient evidence and mocked those who espoused them. Do you not remember Systolic?

Putting aside 'believing really dumb, illogical stuff (I mean, its not a coincidence that there is a very strong correlation between 'religious' and 'denies evolution'), religious people are just so absurdly thick skinned. They want to be able to spout off about how great god is and how morally superior they are, but instantly cry like little babies when forced to defend their nonsense beliefs from a logical perspective.

No. I went to church as a kid but it wasn't until college where I started careful study of philosophy, theology and the major world religions that I confidently came to the conclusion that Christianity is what I truly believe in. It was a spiritual experience as well.

I believe in the hand of God acting in my life and strongly adhere to the power of prayer. I've gone through a huge transformational phase in the past year especially. My faith has grown enormously. I am still a pretty awful Christian for a lot of reasons, but we are saved by faith not deeds. I've done an especially awful job of showing it on 2+2, and hopefully I can change that.

So yeah I'm a Christian and believe I'm saved through the sacrifice of Jesus. If that changes how you feel about me, so be it.

Are you saying there are no prominent Christian apologetics who are willing to debate belief from a scientific, logical or philosophical perspective? Because that simply is not true. I'm on my phone now but am more than willing to link you to the books and talks of such men and women when I get home.

Most of SE apparently grew up in rural communities where the Bible was remorselessly pounded into their heads. This is their opportunity to bravely stand against superstition and for logic.
