It's really hard to recommend podcasts to someone totally new to the format (or at least the ones I listen to, which are primarily comedy) because like with any regularly running show, they develop worlds unto themselves.

No man yarbles has always been crazy and copped to being on a bunch of meds a long time ago (can't remember which) in order to manage some sort of psychiatric disorder or something. From several states away I've found him pretty entertaining. Not so sure I'd feel the same if we were in the same room with a bunch of knives scattered around though.

Karaoke'd for the first time in SF. I can see how it's just an absurdly good time if you are with the right group. Respect for actual band singers - it's freaking tiring.

You live in Vegas and this is your first time? Surprised by that.

I think I've only sang once or twice. I can only remember once specifically. Crushed a descendents songs at a punk rock karaoke.

People who take karaoke serious are hilarious. Especially those who request slow songs and treat it like it's an American Idol rehearsal. These are the same types of people who bowl sober.

Bowling is an excuse to take the 6 pound orange ball and see how many MPH you can roll it by looking up on the scorecard screen. Then yelling "YEAH!!!" in a drunken stupor.

You are absolutely right. I subsequently mentioned the situation with some others that know them a couple of days later and was reminded that their chronic tardiness is well known and apparently in their mind it's totally acceptable behavior, so I'm just pulling the plug and not meeting them anymore.

Well, I did recently bowl sober and had an OK time, but it was on a date and it's a great date-type of activity. To each his own, but bowling/fishing/billiards all fall into that category of "wow, couldn't imagine doing this on the regular without alcohol as a companion".

more podcast recommendations please. I just started listening to the bs report with bill simmons and its solid so far. Started to listen to some finance/econ stuff but am not privy to the international gas market currently - anyway, trying to branch out so looking for other, non sports podcasts, too.
