ESPN gets $5.44 per month per subscriber. MTV2 gets $.02.

This forum is full of huge sports fans, and I would guess that in an a la carte situation I would be far from the only one to subscribe to ESPN only during football season at that price.

I have to think ESPN would charge way, way more than 5.44 per month in an ala carte world, even at 5.44 their subscriber base would fall off dramatically and necessitate a price increase to make up the lost revenue

I don't know. Think about ad revenue. They would lose a really lot of people if it were, say, $200 a year.

Which raises an interesting topic - all these networks are bidding and budgeting in a bundle world, which may well go away. I for one would be so ****ing happy to see these conference networks go busto.

The other day I tried watching a GoT episode on HBO GO on my laptop and there was this goddamn Facebook icon in the bottom left corner that I couldn't for the life of me get rid of. Anyone else get this?

the like button? it only shows up for me when it's small and even then it's outside the viewing area. it goes away completely when i make it full screen.

Never thought I'd say this, but for me it's clearly a better value than RedZone given the all the shows plus ability watch it on phones, tablets, xbox, etc., and the movie library (which includes some decent rotating movie selections, albeit a limited selection).

For some reason I can stream it no problem at my gym but Netflix can be a bit choppy on the same connection. Don't know why or how the delivery of the two would be different.

I would only buy networks with live sporting events in an a la carte world

redzone pretty untouchable. One of the two main reasons I left Directv was because I was paying for the entire ticket just to watch redzone (i got half off like every year but still), and it was still worth it.

If there existed a world where it was possible to buy netflix for 8 bucks, espn for 5 bucks and ABC, NBC, FOX and CBS for an additional 5 bucks, plus Sunday Ticket for 200 a year I would watch the same amount of TV for roughly 100 dollars a month less.

if i lived in the same market as my favorite team i could probably do this but since that's not the case, it's untouchable

$120 for MLB.tv steal of the freaking century imo

I guess it's apples to oranges. RZ is useful 17 Sundays a year at under $3/week. HBOGo is useful all the time but I probably pay $300 or so/year for it (hard to tell because of the bundling).

Rolling through the movies available on HBOGo right now, just the suspense section alone has Cape Fear, Pulp Fiction, Collateral, Fletch, In Bruges, L.A. Confidential, Seven, and Silence of the Lambs, among others. That's solid.

Doesn't happen often but occasionally my physical therapy lines up with a gun day so I'm doing legs in the am and upper body later

Plus I am an obviously jacked 225lb athlete

ya thats true for sure. I watch the Giants when they are on and then I redzone all other times. Ticket def loses value that way.

Now that I'm back to cable I get NY + Philly cbs/fox feeds which is pretty solid.

I just paid for Extra Innings (or whatever its called) last year because I had direcTV and got all the games in HD. When i bought it 2 years before on Cox none of the games were HD. How is the quality for MLB.tv? If you play it through an XBox or PS3 does it still look good?

ive been an mlb.tv subscriber every single year it has been in existence. before it existed i only ever got to see the yankees if they were on national TV (which, granted, was like twice a week). i became completely addicted to watching every single game for a couple years, but that wore off eventually haha. now i miss like one a week :-P.

great service. amazing to see how far they've come. they had one year that was kinda rough when they switched to silverlight, but since then it has smoothed out again.

HBO GO is awesome. AT&T has let me not pay for HBO in 3 years which makes it even better.

MLB.tv with 360 is awesome too. HD quality is nice except I wish you could do the no announcers and only the park sounds on there.
