Still up lifetime from that roll (started it at 1k), but i'd partially paid for semester with that 5000, and that left me with 1.5k which i lived off of.

Edit: Also TI-89 for life

You'd be surprised. Especially where this seems like kind of a reunion thing

Never found blackjack an appealing game. Only time I've ever made a worthwhile score was when playing as a trio (one first, one middle, one last) and then splitting the profits between us. I also find the kind of people at these tables as the worst kind. Some grumpy old oriental guy will continually rush you and berate you because you didn't make the 'right' play in his favour. Obviously poker players can be terrible too but the worst kind have been at the BJ table.

Don't have any good bb stories to tell, but I did fear for my life one time in Vegas. A buddy of mine and I were coming out of the Phish show at Thomas & Mack. Coming off some chocolates, we get a block or so outside the venue to try and catch a cab back to the strip. Finally a guy swings by and gets us. As he starts driving, he asks for us to prepay. We tell him no, we'll pay the amount we owe when we get to the Mandalay. We argue a bit back and forth about how cab rides normally work. He is very insistent and finally goes off on a rant about killing us if we don't prepay. At this point, I am sure we are getting shallow desert graves. We eventually get there and pay him.

Looking back, I am sure he was just afraid of being ripped off by some deadbeat phans that frequent many shows.

Summer. Few years ago. Friend of mine was backing me in a bunch of WSOP events and live tourneys in Vegas. Just had a decent cash to top off a really good 2 weeks, so we got a table at Studio 54 to celebrate. We were the only 2 of our "group" in town at that point... we just planned to chill and take it easy.

Now, we had had a successful trip, but something like 10,000 dollars is still significant money.

My friend has "degen instincts" when he's sober, but when he gets drunk he hits another level. I don't really gamble in the pit for any sort of significant money, but I'm happy just railing his moderate degeneracy. It started out innocently enough: randomly betting 100 dollars on the pass line in craps, spreading a few hundred over a roulette table, etc. He began with like 8k in cash (for some reason he decided it was a good idea to take this all out with him) and ran hot up to 10k or so.

At this point, we decide to head back into the club. I encouraged him to just put his money away safely (we were staying at the NYNY, so a run back to throw it in a hotel safe would have taken 20 minutes tops) and enjoy the rest of the night. He insisted he would gamble more. I go to the bathroom, come back and he's gone.

I look for him everywhere... ask the waitress, check the pit, run around the casino and even ask the floor men:

"Have you seen a really drunk, short, energetic guy gambling like a degenerate?"
"I've seen about 10 in the last 10 minutes."

I'm pretty worried about him, so I keep looking for an hour. Obviously he isn't answering his phone or texts. Eventually I sit down in front of the club, hoping he'll come by. After waiting til around 3:30 AM, I go back to the hotel.

I wake up the next morning and check the other bed in the room... he's face up, fully dressed, covered in his own vomit. He's snoring like a chainsaw, so that's a good sign that he's alive. I wait until 3 PM or so and wake him up. The room smelled disgusting.

He's clearly still drunk.

"Dude! Where the hell did you go last night?"
"I have no idea... the last thing I remember is getting the bottle."
"What about the 10k I saw you with?"
"Uhh. I had that much cash with me?"

He grabs his wallet, opens it up... and it's empty. I mean not even a single dollar. He claims some scattered memories of "degeneracy" came back to him throughout the day, but I still think he completely blacked out and was trying to put it off like he gambled it away rather than getting robbed.

As a result of that, he couldn't fully back me in some of the upcoming tournaments, so I just took a big % of myself. Of course... I then nailed a pretty big cash. I felt bad for him, but what am I gonna do? After that night, his demeanor changed quite a bit and he barely gambled or drank for the rest of the trip. He still gets really edgy if I ever bring up that story.

didnt even matter at that point. I had to change out of a 4 color deck bc the color blue made me sick for weeks after the AK vs. K3 hand. Was confirmed shook. I still consider what couldve been since it was the difference btwn about 750k and 50k posttax and paying out backers.

my biggest bad beat i guess was comparatively small. that 11/250k on sunday had a promotion and first was ~80k. was CL at the FT and 2nd place was the only one who could cripple me and we had about half the chips in play combined. we got all in on a flop with his underpair vs my OESFD. i whiffed. got 8th

One time in Vegas I was at Treasures and got a lap dance from a stripper named Tyson. We had a special bond. She admitted to me her real name was Donita which she said is spanish for donut, and she said she had a brother or sister, can't remember which, who died in the Oklahoma City bombings. It was very emotional. We made out and I Karak'd her while getting the dance for no extra charge. She even said afterwards when I paid for the dance, "I should be paying you." I got her number, she said call me the next day, we'll hang out. I called her the next day and she said she had a good time, but that she drank way too much the night before and was feeling like crap. Could have been lying obv, but she did sound like it. Anyway I never did see her again, and my dream of banging a stripper has still yet to be fulfilled.

Not really a bad beat, just felt like reminiscing about some happier times

Well, it's not. But I always feel bad watching them piss away their money.

Like our usual "Vegas Group" has 2 solid degens (the aforementioned friend + another guy) who always come with us. I don't have to spend a dime for great entertainment, because railing them is incredible. Without fail they run hot as the sun to start the trip and then implode into an atom bomb of degeneracy by the end.

The 2nd degen friend bet 1k to win 1300 (lol 300 profit) on Tiger vs. Rocko. Watching the playoff with him was one of my favorite sports betting moments ever, and I didn't risk anything!

Another funny story from Vegas.

Unfortunately, I started playing online for money at 15 and was basically a semi-pro (while still in school) at 18. I flew out to Vegas when I was 19 one summer and was basically just hanging out with friends and not gambling. I had some cash on me for propping and such, when I decided to buy in to the 5/10 game at the Rio for $1500. Those SE'ers who have met me know that currently at 24 I look about 19, so I must have looked super young then.

I proceed to hit a ridiculous heater, set over set, straight over set that holds, etc. Finally when I stack the 3rd player at the table, I'm stacking my chips when some guy across the table jokingly says to the table "Hey, this guy is killin us. Can you check his ID and make sure he's 21?" I about **** myself at this point. Thankfully the dealer doesn't look into it and nobody else cares enough to actually force me to pull out my 19 year old ID.

I proceed to go into a shell and basically try to color up as many chips as I can to new players at the table, even folding AA preflop at one point because I was scared ****less of getting carded. Leave the table a winner up like $4k, cabbed it to my buddy's house, and proceeded to get baked and watch Rob & Big for 4 hours.
