The comments in the article are like 85% in favor of the ticket. She's disgusting, putting her feet up on the train where people have to sit, etc. They are seriously mad.
Looking back, I shouldn't have done it, especially with my feet on the seat. In a perfect world though, I think it simply merits a warning. This doesn't really need to be against the law imo.
Also I don't really believe the cop anymore who seemed to imply this would be thrown out. I think I'm screwed. Guess it can't hurt to show up to fight the ticket, although it will be a $2.25 subway ride each way, and I'll be putting myself at risk for further seat obstruction
