Local H is an underrated band beyond just "Bound for the Floor" which is ldo great. "As Good As Dead" is a very very good album.

That's their next album "Pack Up the Cats" (supposedly pretty good too though I haven't listened to it nearly as much.)

Tool's weird for me, I think their whole shtick is pretty dumb but imo they have some pretty solid songs. H. is my favorite, Sober honorable mention, but most of their singles are strong.

I'm kind of indifferent to them, not a fan of jam bands in general. I just think the idea that recorded music can't be good because it's somehow "static" is obviously ridiculous.

I was mostly agreeing with his exclusively listen to studio music comment. Live concerts featuring bands that really know how to play their instruments > listening to studio albums ainec.

never heard of many/ (most?) of these songs, but for most of the 90's almost all of what i heard was what my dad listened to which was r&b/soul/jazz. some gospel too, but that's basicaly r&b/soul

I love live music, but I'm not going to stop listening to the bands I love just because they don't come around on tour that often, or the cost is prohibitive, etc.

wouldn't expect you to.

I think we've worn the **** out of the 90s even though we haven't talked about the Flaming Lips or nearly enough Ween. We need a new music topic.

I could spend a lot of time talking about the Flaming Lips and/or Ween.

It takes a decent amount of mental energy to really hone in on the complexities of a wide range of subjects. I chose to expend mine on appreciation of a number of other subjects and sit back and take a casual fan approach to music.

Maybe it's that I'm too left-brained and art in general never particularly resonated w/ me. Either way don't see any reason to feel badly about it- is it really recommended to be super sharp and ahead of the curve wrt every topic ever? I feel like it's healthy to have an area or two in which you can relate to normal folks.

Ween is the most underrated band I can think of. They crush it studio and live. Whatever your musical taste they have at least one song that nails it.

Seeing Ween in a small venue a few times was just stupid awesome. I think they're done playing, but I would snap see them over just about anyone.

I just realized, that I was part of an album draft on 2p2 some time ago, and I picked a lot of the 90s music that's been discussed here today. Here are my picks.

Oasis - (What's the Story) Morning Glory?
Nirvana - Nevermind
The Jimi Hendrix Experience - Electric Ladyland
U2 - The Joshua Tree
Weezer - Blue
Foo Fighters - The Colour And The Shape
The Beatles - Revolver
Ben Folds Five - Whatever And Ever Amen
Incubus - Make Yourself
Arctic Monkeys - Whatever People Say I Am, I'm Not
System of a Down - Toxicity
Red Hot Chili Peppers - Californication
Kanye West - My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy
U2 - All That You Can't Leave Behind
