i just hate it when people get uppity about music taste, as if there's some sort of music that all intelligent people should appreciate.

i think people seek different value in listening to music. personally, i'm far more interested in listening to upbeat + happy tunes made for the masses than becoming an expert audiophile. terrible pop music serves that purpose and the beatles/radiohead do not.

there's no "the wire" of music that should be adored by anybody who has a brain.

I'm not even calling Pearl Jam bad. They clearly aren't a bad band.

Just never liked them at all, though. Despite enjoying a lot of the genre.

STP missing from a lot of these lists, though.

Also on the topic of NIN, while not technically 90's Pretty Hate Machine is one of the best albums ever imo.

i dunno, it doesn't really do it for me the same way modern pop does. beatles seem to be more of a psychedelic happy than an extroverted one which i am seeking. maybe i'm being too harsh.

And if everyone just listened to the Rolling Stones, who have GOAT level songs for all occasions, the world would be a better place.

This is a better post than 'Beatles Suck'.

You can appreciate that something is good or understand why it is popular without having to like it.

Many people don't like classical music but posting that 'Mozart sucks' would be going against what you posted above.

Yeah, some things you get into and some you don't. Would recommend (to the h8rs in general) listening to at least "The Bends" and "OK Computer" all the way through a couple times, but if you've done your due diligence and still can't get into them, they might just somehow not be for you.

I'll usually go to bat for Radiohead pretty hard because I feel like they're not only a great band but one with great songs. Like, with some acclaimed bands you're kind of required to grasp what they're doing overall to "truly" enjoy them, but, conceptual themes aside, (imo) Radiohead just makes a bunch of really good songs of varying styles, many of which are extremely accessible. Recognize some people won't feel that spark, though.

Yeah, it's a bit confusing to me unless he grew up in Yemen and hasn't told anyone.
