Time to get listening!

But yeah, like I said earlier I'm a big dork/snob.

Disliked the Breeders.

Didn't know anyone knew the breeders beyond that one song. I sure don't. I like belly and throwing muses, who share some members.

Bob Marley is worse than zep, I'll say that much. Just never got the infatuation. Some decent tunes but the omg Bob Marley crowd is just something I don't get.

Nice.

Really dig "Unravel" (especially the string quartet version, which I can't find).

Throwing Muses are also great. There's a lot more to the Breeders beyond "Cannonball" imo.

Nah. It actually really sucks to like weird bands that barely anyone else is into imo. But I like what I like, can't help it.

lol @ you, didn't you know that the only reason to listen to music that is outside of the mainstream is to impress other people + tell people about bands they probably haven't heard of and wouldn't like if they did? this is definitely WAY more fun and fulfilling than liking the music that most others like and therefore enjoying one's self more at bars, stadiums, malls, etc., in addition to being able to participate in a conversation like this.

Oh Appetite For Destruction is legit.

Replace The Score with that.

It's like acceptable white trash music.

I'm not a lesbian afaik but I really like women singers. Annie Lennox, Natalie Merchant, Dolores O'Riordan, Enya, Harriet Wheeler, etc. Pretty amazing voices imo.

7/10 here!

pretty sure i've posted this before, but what with Modest Mouse getting some mentions here (but for their "Moon & Antarctica" album), might as well do it again. anyway Pitchfork made a little doc about their "Lonesome Crowded West" album which is kinda neat, if you're into them.

How do most of you(especially those not in college any more) run into new stuff? For me it's almost entirely from listening to XMU on satellite.

Songs I liked from 2012:

Purity Ring - Obedear was one of my favorite songs from the past year but I like pretty much everything I've heard from this album.

Dirty Projectors - Loved Gun Has no Trigger, didn't really dig anything else I've heard off of Swing Lo Magellan

Dum Dum Girls - Lord Knows

Tennis - My Better Self, Origins

Dinosaur Jr. - Watch the Corners

Grimes - Oblivion

Stuff that was well received but I didn't really like

New Grizzly Bear album
