Was thinking that as I read all the "having kids at 50+" comments. That seems to be the popular trend among certain demographics. Walking around DC you see a lot of white-haired parents pushing around strollers these days.
Anyway, there have been a bunch of studies on the risk of defects/disorders, but it doesn't seem like a reliable risk factor has been confirmed yet and it's still relatively low (like 1% increased risk according to
this article).
I don't really get the population control argument. If you only have one child, then you're still coming in under replacement level and not adding to the overall population. That was probably a joke though, so nevermind.
