The trouble is that there are forums which are ostensibly well-moderated but the posters are morons (NVG), then there are forums where the posters are super-argumentative and who in god's name would want to moderate that nonsense (Sports Betting), and there are forums which are generally well-behaved and why would there need to be mod replacement? (Here)

I'd agree that all moderators should be voted for but that in each year, only one moderator can be banished/replaced. Trouble is, there are some forums where the task of moderating them is so thankless that I can't see who would do it.

Seems like a good idea, but I'm not sure how well it'd work in practice.

An issue in SE is that there are some mods in charge, as it were, of certain sports. If hockey regs thought 72o was doing a good job but the rest of the forum disliked his bad gimmicks enough to vote him out, should he be demodded? Other fora are likely to vote out the mods every time because they like conflict (politics, OOT) or for ****s and giggles (BBV4L, OOT).

Most of the problem is that modding and posting wouldn't be separated at all in voting. Someone who is great as a mod but has unpopular opinions will likely be voted out while someone who is a good poster but bad mod (too nice, maybe) will make the cut.

I brought this up in the debacle of an exile thread in OOT. It's just dumb how two bad posters that are mods can't even be exiled because they are mods, and they won't lose their modship. Then you have the issue of Dids not being allowed to even be voted on since he mods OOT. And then Killa takes it as a joke as if people saying Dids aren't being serious.


Keep it as an anonymous vote, and I really see no issue with it.
