I look at the avatar in my periphery, why read the name? So much quicker when power reading.

The trouble is that there are forums which are ostensibly well-moderated but the posters are morons (NVG), then there are forums where the posters are super-argumentative and who in god's name would want to moderate that nonsense (Sports Betting), and there are forums which are generally well-behaved and why would there need to be mod replacement? (Here)

I'd agree that all moderators should be voted for but that in each year, only one moderator can be banished/replaced. Trouble is, there are some forums where the task of moderating them is so thankless that I can't see who would do it.

Seems like a good idea, but I'm not sure how well it'd work in practice.

An issue in SE is that there are some mods in charge, as it were, of certain sports. If hockey regs thought 72o was doing a good job but the rest of the forum disliked his bad gimmicks enough to vote him out, should he be demodded? Other fora are likely to vote out the mods every time because they like conflict (politics, OOT) or for ****s and giggles (BBV4L, OOT).

Most of the problem is that modding and posting wouldn't be separated at all in voting. Someone who is great as a mod but has unpopular opinions will likely be voted out while someone who is a good poster but bad mod (too nice, maybe) will make the cut.

now knowing it's tied to a name will change my approach to the proper one though.

'math', like 'gif(t)' are defaults until proven otherwise. make sense?

for me, if someone's username name is "nath", i'm gonna assume that's his name (short for Nathan?) or something, and go from there...

Never made the Nathan connection, I always thought it was some Italian or Spanish name.

this is the internet, <10% of screennames have anything to do with names. i'm supposed to start there?

(statistic 100% made up, obv)

I brought this up in the debacle of an exile thread in OOT. It's just dumb how two bad posters that are mods can't even be exiled because they are mods, and they won't lose their modship. Then you have the issue of Dids not being allowed to even be voted on since he mods OOT. And then Killa takes it as a joke as if people saying Dids aren't being serious.

Keep it as an anonymous vote, and I really see no issue with it.

well i just wouldn't know where else to start with "nath", seems pretty abstract if we're ignoring the obvious name thing.

NATH National Association of Transpersonal Hypnotherapists (Kill Devil Hills, NC)
NATH New Africa Technology Holdings (South Africa)
NATH North American Trophy Hunt

is there any other language where "nath" is meaningful? could it be short for, or related to anything else?

idk, the name thing just seems intuitive...

have you ever heard anyone irl be referred to as "na(y)th?" i havent.

lots of names on the internet (such as mine) are fabricated too. not really based on anything.

FWIW, I don't think he is the rapist, he is just some douchebag talking about it. Trent Mays and Ma'lik Richmond seem to be the rapists. ****ed up either way, and not like this kid should get a pass for being a tool, just saying.

Yeah, as a nickname or way to call their attention. Don't know anyone who solely uses that.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nath

(although in truth, when I've heard the Indian name "Nath" it is pronounced like "math", so... score one for the people who thought I was Indian, I guess?)

Wait.. your name is actually "Nath" in its entirety? Pronounced "Nayth"? Not short for Nathan or Nathaniel?

edit: Interesting, ok then. But surely you can't fault the math people. I was a math person. But was also a gif(t) person which I've decided is wrong.

gif(t) is still right, I will take that to the grave. But I will switch from nath to nayth now that I know it's his actual name.

Unless of course I can train my brain to process all of your usernames in terms of pictures and symbols like n-h-l-n-u-t.
