This is either 1) really displaying your ignorance or 2) a much more damning indictment of SE than politards, depending on what you mean by the "way we treat sports."

There are relatively few party cheerleaders who just robotically cheer for Ds or Rs in the forum compared to basically anywhere else on the interwebs or in the real world. There are, in fact, none on the R side and only one or two I can think of on the D side.

There are also significantly more instances of people going full ****** emotional breakdown in SE than in Politiards.

Oh look it's another person who doesn't actually read politards but knows everything that goes on in there somehow.

Again, this isn't really a glowing endorsement of SE, either, if you actually think about it. Basically what you're saying is what you think politards is now would be just like SE if they just banned all the people who are against gay marriage, or pro gun control, or against drug legalization. The posting wouldn't be any better, it would just be more of a happy echo chamber.

SE, like OOTV, was created because threads were cluttering the discussion in OOT. Politards forum was created because most right-thinking people don't want their internet experience ruined by political discussion and prefer it quarantined in one place, preferably far away.

Politards forum is the Hamsterdam of 2+2.
hahah tuq NO U BUTTHURT

Commentary – Updated | The hacking collective known as Anonymous renewed their war on the Westboro Baptist Church today. After the haters from the infamous church posted their intentions to picket the funerals of the twenty children killed in the shooting at the Sandy Hook Elementary School, Anonymous responded by re-posting the personal and professional information for members of the church on the Internet. Now the general public can contact the church members directly and tell them what they think about people who would desecrate the funerals of murdered children.

pvn: I started posting here in politics in 2004 - I'd guess of my first 300 posts here, half of them were in there - and on the rare occasions I go back in there, it's a lot of the same people making the same arguments.

Nah there has been a pretty big shift in the sense that anarcho capitalism isn't the main topic anymore.

it's been a while since i watched deadwood for the first time but i am re-watching now - it's just not really a marathon-type show. you'll enjoy it a lot more by not marathoning it.

When I watch shows, I'm incapable of *not* marathoning.

Deadwood's a great show to watch (and rewatch) with a glass of whiskey in hand. I can't marathon it because I'd just end up blacking out.

That's different than "it's nothing but people talking past each other."

Of course there is SOME of that, just like there's SOME of that here. But the forum culture does a good job of minimizing it, or at least keeping those sorts of poasts from dominating the discussion. In fact, the LACK of such posting actually gets a lot of the haters mad (there was a huge ATF blow-up a few years ago (featuring more than one person in this very thread) because a bunch of people wanted MORE talking past each other and LESS actual critical analysis of their opinions).

I'm not trying to argue that politards is some enlightened paradise. Of course there is ******ation in there. It's just that the intarweb toughguys that are all like LOL AT THOSE GUYS or LOL BUTTHURT are just hilariously self-unaware for the most part or worse, suffering from some sort of inferiority complex and feel the need to puff up their epeen.

This is how Boardwalk Empire is for me. I just want to drink straight crown royal and chain-smoke unfiltered cigarettes while I'm watching that show. Better pick up a bottle before I get into Deadwood.

But yes, like Bobbo, I am completely incapable of not marathoning a show once I'm hooked.

shaft88, do you ever watch any series that aren't yet finished?

Anyway, started Deadwood 2-3 weeks ago and finished s1 yesterday. Even though you say you can't take a break this series can be pretty exhausting and I can only handle so much of the namecalling and violence in one sitting (it's basically like SE with guns and women).

I used to always marathon dvd sets. I think I watched season 1 of the shield in one day when I was younger.

Now I watch 1 or 2 episodes of a show a few nights a week and I feel I absorb it a lot better.

I don't have a DVR so it's rare that I watch series as they are ran. I usually catch up with a series after the first or second season and marathon through those then watch the current season in 3-4 ep blocks as they air. I don't have any of the premium cable channels either except for HBOGO through someone else's login.

It's also not a particularly plot-driven show, so you're not forced to pop in the next disc just to see what happens next. It's more of a show where you want to savor all the dialogue/sets/performances, and marathoning it kind of detracts from all that imo.

I don't really understand marathoning shows as a default mode of watching anyway - you miss so much. I did kinda marathon Breaking Bad and now I can't really keep straight what happened in which seasons.

Yeah good point, cliffhangers aren't their thing. The ending to each episode also seems pretty arbitrary, including the ending to the final ep of season one.

Each episode is 1 day. They begin in the morning and end late at night.

i like marathoning sitcoms and i haven't had any problems marathoning stuff like buffy the vampire slayer but it's not good for shows like the hbo dramas and bb unless you're fine with not remembering what happened 5 episodes ago.
