5 year olds can't provide any actual news. everyone gets the exact same information whether any of the kids were interviewed or not.

lol, dkgo video is definitely hilarious. Maybe it's just the casual style of it, or that he sounds so chill saying "**** that forum" that you'd never imagine he'd get angry.

Also to his other video being Gus Johnson soundclips.

Oh, really? Let's see. Incorrect reporting of names, incorrect death counts, a bunch of other misinformation reported without anyone verifying facts, probably some gun politarding and, of course, interviewing children after they witnessed potentially the most terrifying thing they'll ever see in their lives at a ridiculously young age where they have little grasp of the actual reality of the world.

I mean, is it really that much to ask to not get your facts straight? Or interview one of the numerous adults that happened to be in the school at the time?

Come on, phb. You are better than this. I have a hard time believing they need to interview a bunch of little kids who would give a terrible interview in a normal situation, because they are just little kids, to get information. There has to be someone of authority, teacher, administrator, etc. that could give a much better account of what happened.

I don't know seeing the kids talk about it really helped put this into perspective for me. Seeing a 10 year old talking about hearing a door being kicked and gunfire across the hall made this way more real than like Ashley Banfield forcing herself to well up and talk about how she lives 30 minutes away.

I'm glad they didn't hide the kids and pretend there's nothing to see here.

I'm not saying that is your position but even if I disagreed with the kids being asked to explain what they heard I still thing it's a huge leap from that to "scum of the Earth".

Clearly I wasn't talking about all the other crap the media did. Someone specifically said they were the scum of the earth solely for interviewing the kids.

If anything all that other bad stuff they did makes their interviews one of the more reasonable things they did all day.

Well they are the scum of the Earth for interviewing kids. That's an extremely traumatic situation where the kids should immediately be brought home and away from the scene. Interview a damn teacher or something. He'll actually be able to tell you what happened. Little kids won't be able to tell you much of anything.

Seems like they did a fine job of explaining what they saw and heard.

And seeing some 50 year old science teacher talk about the kids doesn't really put into perspective seeing actual kids talk about it.

Someone in the oot thread said putting the kids on tv was a worse trajedy than the shooting. Agree or disagree?

And man, is just everyone in oot that sensitive these days?

yes of course there are a bunch of freaks like you out there that get some kind of enjoyment out of seeing 10 year olds talk about almost dying. they interviewed the kids because they thought it would get them ratings which would lead to money.

doing things that are potentially psychologically damaging to children for the purpose of generating profit is exploitation. people that exploit children are scumbags.

That's the worst part. Appealing to emotion is what makes it really scummy. It isn't about you, media. "Let's put some little kid on camera because it'll make everyone feel a lot more close to event and make us look like we are the most important news station in the world right now".

You can have little kids for a happy story, there's nothing wrong with that. But when it comes to a massive tragedy, a 50 year old science teacher is exactly the person that should be interviewed. Can you really not see why interviewing these kids is not scummy in anyway?

That has to be hyperbole. No, that's absurd to even think it's close to the same. Still doesn't make it acceptable to interview these kids.

Thanks for the personal attack, 2p2 mod.

You are making a couple large assumptions here.

You have no idea if the kids interviewed today are worse off for doing so. You (and everyone else) is just making the claim with no science to back it up. I could just as easily say that talking about things like this and not suppressing them is better.

Should they really interview adults about the same event? Why? Isn't that also exploitation for ratings? Where do you decide to draw the cut-off between someone who is safe to interview and who is not? 18? 21? Some arbitrary number?

This happened to little kids, there is no hiding that.

Please link the interview you found scummy and explain the damage done to the child. Thanks. Your entire argument is completely nebulous.
