What the **** is this, that's a terrible attitude. Some people have different levels of caring about things, I'm the casualest of casual soccer fan but that doesn't mean I don't enjoy discussing it when something big is going on.

You're taking sports hipsterdom to the extreme.

I hate when people root for the 2 seed over the 15 because it will ruin their bracket

I am 99% sure this doesnt ever happen. I was watching the Duke vs. Lehigh game this year and I dont think a single other person in the sports bar was rooting for Duke with me. I even had a bunch of them tell me that they didnt care if it ruined their bracket.

Yeah it definitely happens. March Madness is one of the few sporting events I prefer to watch with crowds and all the brackettards want their upsets to come in so they can brag about them.

In Vegas people root for Duke vs. a massive dog, until it's obvious Duke can't cover, then they say eff it and root for the straight-up upset.

I'm talking about the relationship between knowledgeable, invested fans and the casual fans that creep in and pretend to care just because they happened to draft player X from Y team that year. Having to deal with those people is obnoxious and observing them is just pathetic.

My comment was within the context of fantasy sports. I'm not trying to trash the casual fans who tune in for the Super Bowl or the playoffs simply to enjoy the games, that's different imo.

Does anyone actually play fantasy sports without caring about the sport in the first place? Besides, I learned a ton about the players around the league the first year (and every subsequent year) I played fantasy football, so it seems like a net positive if we're talking about people learning things.

he is talking about casual fans - people who enjoy the sport, but who don't follow it particularly closely - who get invested in it because of their fantasy team, when it should be the other way around. i have to admit that i doubt many of these people exist, but i'm sure they're obnoxious.

women often do this and they are by far the most irritating with it

i had a girlfriend win our regular dude fantasy league one year by sheer luck (and the fact that i half-managed her team) and my gosh that was insufferable hell. of course all the bros just constantly attributed the win to me, which tilted her in return and made it a little better.

yeota can confirm this

Was going with:
1) GF
2) GF respects his FFB ability enough to allow him to run her team
3) Friends all can't wait to congratulate him on his well earned victories

but yours are fine too.

Some of the most amazing degen sports cheering I've seen has been in LV sports books where people need #1 seeds to cover
