I get to see the two of them perform at Kiss 92.5 WHAM BAM concert this Thursday at the Molson Ampitheatre. Sooooooooooo pumped.

It is also my duty to inform SE that Taylor Swift just released a new single - We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together - from her upcoming album RED to be released Oct 22, 2012

TAYLOR

Somehow she just knows where you are in life and writes a song perfect for it.

when did this happen? I was there last november for the Duke vs. Sparty game followed by UK vs. KU and was unimpressed. However, the overwhelming number of UK fans and how much they suck did make the experience less enjoyable.

Its good, but I think 5 guys is better and the one by me is about a quarter mile from 5 guys so its not a place I frequent. Plus their burgers fall apart pretty easily imo.

Today I learned that A-Rod's Cousin is a tuq gimmick:

I mean, really - two college basketball games where all the teams involved are at least 500 miles away? I wonder why the atmosphere wasn't that great.

atmosphere was actually good. The arena itself sucked and the uk fans sucked. I was talking about the venue being overrated, not the game.

i've never heard anyone call MSG a great venue. sightlines are bad from a lot of places, getting around is a nightmare, etc. etc.

yea, thats what I experienced, but I have always heard "you have to go to MSG" spoken just like "you have to go to Wrigley" and the latter was awesome. I found pretty much everything that people hype about NYC to be overrated.

Despite having a ton of positives there are just as many negatives to NYC that make it inferior to other major cities like DC, Chicago, LA, Atlanta, Boston, and Miami (though I have only spent a few days in each of the last two cities so those opinions aren't as reliable).

No NYC is awesome and beats the **** out of those cities as long as you don't limit yourself to dumb tourist things

NYC sucks ass. Too crowded and a ton of jerks. Chicago is much better... north of 35th.

Everytime I have been I have either been working and thus stayed in the city and met up with friends afterwards for dinner and drinks or stayed at my friends' places in Manhattan. Many of my friends are lifelong NYers so the only two "touristy" things I have ever done are go to Shake Shack and a game at MSG and both were overrated.

Here is just a small list of things that are negatives for NYC off the top of my head (I've spent 95% of my time in Manhattan so maybe the other burroughs are different):

The weather is either on par with or worse than all the other cities listed, the streets often smell, the sidewalks and subway are crowded and people often nudge or bump you without apologies, very few people hold doors for others, it rains too frequently, you cant drive anywhere and if you did parking would be nearly impossible, its borderline impossible to get to a grocery store and get groceries back to your place, alcohol is prohibatively expensive compared to every other city, too many of the restaurants are too dimly lit, the ego of the average young professional is off the charts compared to any other place I have ever been, people seem more judgmental than average, and the cabs are harder to get than in other cities as they are too often full and you can't really call one that will wait for you.

'you can't drive anywhere'

anyway New York is not for everyone, and it is most certainly not for someone who would rate Atlanta as a better city. A nightmare of urban sprawl where traffic is horrible, mass transit is non-existent, and half the usable land in 'urban areas' are used for above-ground parking garages? Sign me up.

no, I mean instead of driving to work, lunch, your (girl)friend's apartment, a baseball game, dinner, the airport, etc. you have to take the subway with hundreds of other people or pay for a cab. Both of these options are less comfortable and less convenient than walking out of your apartment or work and getting in your car 50 feet away and parking at your destination while controlling the temperature and comfort. Also, you can't very easily take 10 minutes and go pick up food and bring it back because you have to either walk to somewhere nearby (thereby limiting your choices significantly), order delivery (thereby increasing cost and still limiting choices), or take a subway/cab. It is also an absolute nightmare to go shopping anywhere that will lead to a purchase of stuff that is more than you can comfortably carry. Its basically impossible to go buy a liquor and a few cases of beer without 2 friends coming with you. Forget about going to the grocery store or costco unless you plan to go everyday.

Cabs are standard when you drink, but driving is inarguably more comfortable and faster if you have any sort of parking and roads that are sufficient to accomodate the population.

traffic in ATL is better than traffic in NYC in my experience. Its basically impossible to drive in NYC and traffic laws are loosely obeyed on a good day. Also, when people say ATL is sprawled theyre including the suburbs. NYC is sprawled too if you include NJ and CT as part of the "city." I am able to get everywhere I need to go in ATL (about a 10 mi radius) in 15 min or less. I can get to work in 7 min in the morning despite it being 2.5 mi away. Mass transit is nice when drinking (but it seems to close too early to be usable most of the time anyways and a cab in NYC is harder to get than one in ATL). Why would anyone prefer to take a subway to work instead of driving? It makes no sense.
