All 3 Dark Knight movies are awesome, each in different ways. I need to see Returns again to really form an opinion of where it stands. Of the first two, Begins is the better overall movie, just tight and perfect. Dark Knight obviously has higher highs, but it is simply too bloated imo, causing Begins to get the nod by a hair.

Of the extended editions, I think Fellowship was the best. But I really like character development and foundational type stuff. I thought Return of the King's big battle scene was disappointing. Two Towers was a terrible boring book (basically a bunch of people running around doing nothing) but a really well done movie.

Just saw Total Recall, the Ahnold version, again today. Random thoughts:

Arnold is so GOATish at times.

Holy crap so much violence against women. While totally deserved in the context of the plot, they'd never allow that today.

Violence so much more intense than today. Bullet shots to the head and stuff where today's movies are all body shots, etc.

Sharon Stone still hot.

Three boobies.

Midgets with machine guns.

Luckily we will get to see in the remake how much violence they allow

In addition to shooting Sharon Stone in the forehead (killing her obv), earlier Ahnold closed fist punched her right in the face.

Sucks that the two lead women are both brunettes. Anti-blonde bias in Hollywood right now. Plus, we don't get this epic line:

Melina (the brunette): "What have you been feeding this thing" (grabs Ahnold's junk)
Ahnold: "Blondes"
Melina: "Well, I think it's still hungry"

Couldn't remember what other preview I saw today aside from Man of Steel and The Hobbit, and knew it wasn't Skyline like other people have mentioned, but you just reminded me ... it was Total Recall starring Colin Farrell.

TDK is pretty lame for 30+ min once 2face comes into the game, minus the scene with the boats.

Yeah, all that fluff that laid the foundation for the subsequent 7 hours of film. Film that relied hugely on the main character's internal struggles and his backstory. Should've dispensed with all of that.

Ledger was so incredible, just an all-time performance

Seems like I notice something awesome each time I rewatch TDK...this week it was the "I believe in Harvey Dent" sticker on the Joker's nurse coat when he went to pay his visit to Harvey

meh. i though begins was very overrated when it first came out but i loved tdk. tdk is all of 12 minutes longer. i absolutely hated the shaky cam action sequences in begins where all you can see is dark blurry shapes whipping around the screen and i thought the last ~third of the movie completely fell apart (once the criminals are released from arkham to terrorize the city it gets pretty stupid) and didn't fit the rest of the film at all.

Right. It was all so quick and almost throw-away-ish. Could've been so much tighter. Part of it is due to the brilliance of the first 3/4s of the movie though - it just was impossible to maintain some of the peaks it had. The viewer gets tired, and is met with a bloated, weakish final act that suffers by comparison.

I know that these movies aren't supposed to be realistic, but I had a really really hard time getting past the fact that the microwave emitter vaporized the water in Gotham's pipes, but not the water in the cells of everyone's bodies

That's quite a bit considering that Begins had so much foundation to lay and TDK had the benefit of being able to just jump right into things. Anyways, it's not the absolute length that's the issue, it's what one does with it........and it was bloated.

I understand those who disagree, but it's a really common complaint about it. The movie certainly has a Speed-esque, jeez, really? type of feel to it to me at the end.
