I think his go-to headline is usually CHICAGOLAND.

Anyway, tucked away on the front page of Drudge this morning was this article:

http://www.thedailybeast.com/newswee...arch-says.html

Which I found to be a pretty interesting read, with this being a particularly interesting paragraph:

Quote:
This evaporation of the genuine self also occurred among the high-school- and college-age kids she interviewed. They were struggling with digital identities at an age when actual identity is in flux. “What I learned in high school,” a kid named Stan told Turkle, “was profiles, profiles, profiles; how to make a me.” It’s a nerve-racking learning curve, a life lived entirely in public with the webcam on, every mistake recorded and shared, mocked until something more mockable comes along. “How long do I have to do this?” another teen sighed, as he prepared to reply to 100 new messages on his phone.
The whole article is good though, pretty incredibly scary how tethered people get to their devices.

I am rather glad I went to high school in a Facebookless generation. Well, Facebook was JUST starting to get rolled out to colleges nationwide as I graduated.

And even in the early years of college, all you had was one profile picture and limited functionality. Tagging photos and all that stuff didn't come along til later.

facebook was better before they stressed all the privacy options and girls photos were always public

lots of times though, being hot and being too dumb to figure out the privacy options are highly correlated

i liked facebook better when the emphasis was on you choosing your friends and not on trying to connect you to everyone in the world through every website and application you could think of

Facebook has successfully conditioned me to make sure I'm logged out before looking at porn out of fear of what'll show up in the news feed if I click something by accident

It all started to go downhill when they first let non .edu e-mail addresses register.

Only people here I've ever known with Bebo profiles were Taiwanese exchange students.

All you gotta do is control/command + shift + p for a private browsing window in firefox. When you're done doing whatever just hit that same combo and all your previous tabs will reload.

Is there anyone out there who is like "great horse porn video! Love the ability to one click like and share it with my friends on Facebook! What a user experience!"

Fb is silently monitoring and tracking any site you visit that has fb like integration whether you click like or not.

Heh, this makes me feel old it seems so long ago. I remember when facebook first came out I was telling my roommates how big it was going to be, and they thought I was crazy, myspace4life yo. Fun to bring up every once in a while. (since I don't have 8 year old posts from them that I can bump)

If I'm typing a post and hit the BACKSPACE key the page literally goes back to the previous page that I was viewing. Very frustrating. I've had some gems the last few days that I haven't been able to post.

You're probably clicking outside the text box and then doing it. I just confined that that's what happens with backspace on chrome. Backspace doing that is a feature on some/most browsers I believe.
