At first I thought, "Lol." But then I thought, after the clear #1 overall, there are a lot of possibilities. I can think of 3 guys who would be taken early but would not deserve it (history smiles upon some people for dumb reasons) and I can think of another 4-5 who would be massive steals. Of course, I'm a science nerd so I wouldn't expect this sort of thing to interest many others in SE

There is absolutely no clear #1. Scientist draft is an amazing idea and should probably happen.

Meh, sorry, and I know that it's really cliche, but there is a clear #1 and yes, it's the obvious one.

Wait, are we judging by popularity or contributions to science? If it's the former, the draft will suck, if it's the latter, your assumed #1 pick is spew.

There isn't a clear #1 unless you're talking only 20th century+ IMO

Scientist draft would be awesome. What fields? Physics, chemistry, biology, mathematics, astronomy, medicine, psychology, computer science? Most famous scientists studied multiple fields obv.

As long as they were prominent in their field it doesn't matter IMO, you get them for just that field.

no, he isn't a clear #1

scientist draft should happen, only sticking point is what fields to include/exclude (geology/meteorology together or separate? astronomy its own field or just part of physics? computer science? zoology/botany its own field or part of biology? statistics on its own or part of mathematics?)

pure social scientists shouldn't be allowed, but there are a few joint economists/statisticians who should be imo.

Though it would be a huge troll to take prominent physicist as a mathematician to cockblock other people if you already have another physicist.

Al Gore is better value if you get credit for both his work in the field of climatology and his computer science contributions.
