Just wait until you watch it through a second time! In some ways it's even better, because you go into S1 now having the complete picture of Baltimore and everything that's going around that you don't see, as well as being able to keep an eye out on themes, to watch how people make the choices that lead them down the paths they take, how the institutions really just grind up individuals and then replace them with the next one in line, over and over again.

(curious, did you finish yet?)

Haven't finished yet, midway through S5. Really having to fight myself to finish because I realized the end is nigh and there won't be any more new episodes. That, and the newspaper story really isn't grabbing me that much.

So you would argue that GoT is better than Nick's Girlfriends Tits???

Game of Thrones is already the greatest TV show of all time.

If you dont watch it, then you know nothing, Richard Tanner.

I only have s5 of The Wire to go, and I'm going to be in the minority here, but I still think LOST is a better TV show. Having watched it real time, dealing with week after week and season breaks, and straight through on Netflix, both times were awesome.

The Wire is #2 for me right now, as long as s5 keeps it up.

How do you manage to avoid getting killed when crossing the street everyday?

im not even done with my first watch of season 1 yet, but i can see how the plot lines are really going to heat up soon. as of now, im just at the surface level "drug war" of cops vs. dealers, but the hints of all the other layers have been pretty clear the whole season. last episode i watched mcnulty had a bunch of revelations. ive been losing a lot of sleep with "meh... just one more episode can't hurt." last show i did this with was the sopranos.

With all the talk about The Wire I've decided to watch it all again for the 4th time.

Spoiler:
Wee Bey just eating all the murders while munching on the burger is such a great scene.

Yeah, one thing that The Wire does better than most shows is that some individual scenes are awesome. My favorite scene in the show has been

Spoiler:
Season 1 when D'Angelo is teaching Wallace and Bodie chess. Don't remember the exact dialogue, but it's something like..

Bodie: So what happens when the pawn reaches the other side?

D: It becomes a queen.

Bodie: How does it become the king?

D: Nah, it can't. The king stay the king.

Bodie: Unless it's a smart ass pawn.

The way D smiles afterwards, Bodie is so confident, etc. Was an awesome scene, and that + him killing Wallace really made me thought in a few seasons he would become a big time guy in the show

EDIT: And watching the scene again on YouTube, I mixed it up.

Love GOT, not putting it ahead of The Wire or The Sopranos though.

Ya, somewhat overrated scene. How it plays out over the course of the series is pretty good, though.

Spoiler:
specifically Bodie's last couple of scenes in the series (talk with McNulty, death scene)
